The National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Narit) has invited people interested in viewing the Geminid meteor shower to Huai Lan Reservoir in San Kamphaeng district of Chiang Mai province on December 13.

The event is being held in cooperation with On Tai Municipality.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, Narit said: “The activity will be from 5pm on Sunday until 5am on Monday. We chose this location because it has a clear view of the sky and is away from lights in big cities.”

Narit added that the annual Geminid meteor shower can be observed with naked eyes in a dark, cloudless area. It will fall at approximately 150 bright meteors per hour.

“Narit will also prepare telescopes for participating gazers to view other celestial bodies including Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, galaxies, nebulae and more,” it added. “Interested persons must register at https://darksky.narit.or.th/darkskyreserve/communities/huailan/ and will receive a copy of the “star map” at the venue.

“Make sure to bring a jacket, sleeping bag and mosquito repellant, as it is expected to be cold,” Narit advised.

Without the aid of a telescope. It wasn't tightly puckered then?

You'll be lucky to see the mountains through the smog much less the sky.????

Lucky of Cm to have scored a deal with the galaxy, figured FB or Apple would have beaten them to the rights..

No dirty farangs allowed to look up unless they pay the double fee.....no sharing at salad bar either.....carry on
