Wonder when Trump is going to weigh in with a whole slew of deranged twitter rants that these elections were stolen?

He already has!

Probably like weeks before the election. And then again when a fly was caught on CCTV sitting on a box in some street three blocks near the election center.

That's true and who knows maybe Ossoff will be able to beat that automatic recount marg.

Hell, LET them recount. The attention that has been paid to this election means it has been squeaky clean!

Warnock makes history with Senate win as Dems near majority

ATLANTA (AP) — Democrat Raphael Warnock won one of Georgia’s two Senate runoffs Wednesday, becoming the first Black senator in his state’s history and putting the Senate majority within the party’s reach.

A pastor who spent the past 15 years leading the Atlanta church where Martin Luther King Jr. preached, Warnock defeated Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler. It was a stinging rebuke of outgoing President Donald Trump, who made one of his final trips in office to Georgia to rally his loyal base behind Loeffler and the Republican running for the other seat, David Perdue.

The focus now shifts to the second race between Perdue and Democrat Jon Ossoff. That contest was too early to call as votes were still being counted.

There were still some mail ballots and in-person early votes left to be counted statewide, the majority of which are in Democratic-leaning counties. Under Georgia law, a trailing candidate may request a recount when the margin of an election is less than or equal to 0.5 percentage points.

Yeah, this is history in the making.  A long way from the Jim Crow laws and voting BS that Georgia has enacted over the years.

Warnock is royalty in GA.  Pastor at the that great Atlanta church.  A man of integrity.

Great that he beat those who were just spouting racism, fear, conspiracy theories and attacks against others.

Maybe the US does have a chance after all...

Fingers crossed for Ossoff, but it's looking good.  Bye bye McConnell.  Hello Kamala.  A woman of color as speaker of the senate.  Incredible.

Assuming all these things play out as expected....AFAIK...

VP Harris would become the president / presiding officer of the Senate.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presiding_Officer_of_the_United_States_Senate

Quote

The Vice President is assigned the responsibility by the Constitution of presiding over the Senate and designated as its president. The vice president has the authority (ex officio, for they are not an elected member of the Senate) to cast a tie-breaking vote.

Then once Ossoff and Warnock are seated, the Democrats in the Senate would I think have to elect a new Majority Leader to replace McConnell. Could be Chuck Schumer, the current minority leader, or someone else.

Agree, but she won't be speaker.

Will Mitch still be the speaker?  I understand Kamala will be the tie breaker, if needed.

Who will preside over the senate?

Well, a vote will be held for majority leader. That will be Schumer. But the vice-President officially presides over the Senate. But usually can be absent. Harris is going to have to stick close to home for the next 2 years.

In any case if Ossoff prevails his will be even a bigger win than Warnock's.

Why?

Ossoff was always considered less likely to win than Warnock.  The relative margins prove that was true.

Perdue is a real incumbent. Ossoff would win 6 years. Warnock only wins 2 years because Loeffler was appointed as a replacement and had never been elected.

True, but let's not forget that it was Black voters motivated to put Warnock in the Senate that elected Ossoff.  Had Warnock not run, Ossoff would have lost.

An assumption....

Well - just took a look at Fox, and even THEY are admitting Warnock won and Ossoff most likely will as well.

And the awful lies they are spewing is shameful! "Socialism" "Bernie Sanders won" "Hard left!"

And millions lap up the vomit they ooze.

Someone said Trump is arranging to go to Georgia himself and personally count each and every ballot cast.

He can't count that high. He only gets to twenty and a half when stark naked.

If he counts like he does on a golf course it will only go up to 4.

If the result is a close victory for the Democrat candidates then of course we can expect every possible allegation, "legal" move and tremendous pressure on the ballot authorities to somehow "correct" the results.

So let's hope that everything is in place to ensure there's zero possibility of any form of error in processing/counting the votes.

And hope there's no chance of criticism that observers weren't allowed close enough to view documents etc.

Because Trump & Company respect the facts?

Also to note Warnock is the first black democratic senator from the former confederate states. That's definitely historic.

Trump just had an air swing on the first tee.

I know little about golf, never even having held a golf bat in my paws, however I understand that in Mr Trump's sporting world they are not counted...
