Thailand reports 305 new COVID-19 cases, one more death

Thailand confirmed 305 new coronavirus cases on Thursday.

 

Of the new cases, 193 were local transmissions,109 were among migrant workers and 3 were imported from people entering quarantine.

 

A further 103 people have been discharged from hospital. One more death was also reported

 

5,115 people remain in hospital or held in a migrant worker quarantine centre.

 

Thursday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 9,636, with 67 deaths.

 

It wasn’t immediately clear what happened to the 900 cases that were announced in Samut Sakhon province on Wednesday.

Wonder where were the 900 numbers from Samut Sakhorn....it was NOT included in yesterday's new cases number nor it is included in today's cases numbers? Is Thailand trying to protray the rising cases in is so minimal?

300 is still a big number in Thailand, I want to see less than 30 per day.

There wasn't another 900, that was a discussion of previous numbers.

Samut Sakhorn was declared not part of Thailand, it seems. Samut Sakhorn? Where's that? Burma?

Indeed. Either yesterday was 1200+ or today is 1200+.

The 900 were already accounted for in previous numbers - old news.

 

This according to another Bangkok newspaper that cannot be mentioned.

 

So, they will not appear as new cases.

Thailand’s Samut Sakhon province has confirmed another 900 new COVID-19 cases, from proactive screening of about 3,800 workers in local factories.

This was yesterday.

No, they were reported in previous days totals. That figure was the total from one factory taken over a number of days. 
 

Spreading misinformation is not helpful. A lot of misinformation was spread in the USA and their figure yesterday was 4,100 people dead, the most ever. UK over 1,000 dead yesterday also.

Hey, I'm with you...but a quick read of another Bangkok source has an article explaining that the 900 have already been reported in old numbers...

 

So, they will not appear again.

And there was me thinking they actually done 3800 tests in a day????????????????????Thailand probably testing around 2000 aday absolute maximum

Its out there and spreading and with a similar population to the UK this will get steadily worse

Sadly it was always going to occur sooner or later

Yes, the UK is getting worse everyday, 63,000+ new infections yesterday and more than another 1,000 dead. 

Thailand will get worse before it gets better, but I doubt they will ever get close to those numbers. 

Only 67 dead so far for a whole year in Thailand, more than that died before breakfast this morning in the UK who are now battling the highly contagious  UK mutant covid strain,  and more every hour are dying in the US. 
 

 

 

The 900 have not been reported, if you read the topics from Thai Visa the total of migrants in the last few days has not been 900, so where are they?

All this opaque reporting does make one wonder what Thailand's true figures are, they really are following in China's footsteps ............!!!!

Last time it was 30 days without a new infection before things could open.

If they use that model, the next 6 months could be toast.

Amazing they are getting thousands of cases with no testing.

I think it is a big mistake to think that testing is the answer to controlling covid. Not exactly working out for the UK or USA.

No it won't as we have much better controls here.

Testing should be offered to all at cost, or heavily subsidized. The virus does not care what nationality you are.

Too expensive and folks who feel "ok" but are non symptomatic spreaders won't  get tested until they have infected thousands.

The woman from the Myanmar "karaoke" bar is a prime example.

In most countries in the world these numbers would be considered minute. That said I am glad they are taking it seriously but I hope they don’t overdo it and cause even more economic misery.

Considering the thousands of Thais who work along side their migrant colleagues in the factories would have returned home to the provinces during the New Year........ we would expect them now to roll out testing across the north and north east at the very least.
