(Reuters) - European Union citizens will be banned from using ID cards to enter Britain from October amidst growing concern about the proliferation of fake European IDs, the Telegraph reported https://bit.ly/3q5gdod on Thursday.

British interior minister Priti Patel is using Brexit to change the rules so that EU ID cards can no longer be used as travel documents. Instead, visiting EU nationals will have to present passports at UK borders, the report said.

Just maybe because there were no borders. You did not need it following the agreements an ID card was enough.

Seems only logical that they need passports now the UK is no longer part of the EU.

Not sure why this is aproblem.

Really, how do you know that...?

He is right that most Europeans don't want to visit the UK. I mean there are over 400 million Europeans. Only 6.9 million visited the UK. (google is your friend). 18 million Brits visited  Spain. So it seems that the UK is not really that liked by Europeans compared to other countries.

Even the Netherlands has more tourists from the EU then the UK.

I think most tourists from EU go to warmer countries.

All the data is available online.

Not making any comments on the food as that is taste depended. But the weather is for me and others important. The UK has the same crappy weather in general as the Netherlands.

Any evidence for this assertion? Are people allowed in your country with no passport? Are Europeans queuing to get into your country?

I just gave evidence and google is your friend. Look up the EU visitors to UK and then look up how many Europeans there are. So he is right with his assertion. Not sure why people make such a big deal out of it.

When i said in my post EVEN means the Dutch are also not that well liked tourist wise. In Europe the tourist countries are Spain, France, Italy, Greece. Why because of the sun and the sea.

Is it that much of an insult that your not a tourist country.

You are twisting my words, I have never said EU folk wanted to be in the UK.

You keep reminding me you are better than most as you are educated, well if so, try not twisting others written words....Thank you.....:cowboy:

You were doubting him asking him how he knew. He probably knew how to use google.

Yes you do if you think the UK is a tourist country and people from the EU are waiting in line to visit then yes. You doubted him so obviously you did not agree.

I'm a Brit and I don't like the UK either, unless you want easy benefits, absolutely no reason to go.

No cheap wine, warm beaches or easy sex to be had, which is what most people want from a holiday.

I know but we were talking European about European tourists. Then the figures are different. The UK has many US tourists.

As you can use google go and look at the data.

I never said that the Netherlands was a tourist country but it had more European tourists then the UK. My even meant as a look even a crappy country like the Netherlands gets more tourist from the EU.

I mean who in his right mind could think the UK was a major tourist destination among Europeans.

Second image is for the Netherlands.

England and Scotland are different country's, so I didn't see the link between BKK and Hua Hin, the same country.

Thinking there might be a Hua Hin in China, that I have never heard about.........????

How is trying to compare traveling from Bangkok to Hua Hin and the UK to another country relevant? Bit silly really dont you think?

Well the economy is down the drain, why not throw a bone to the nationalist rabble and make it worse.

It’ll take their mind off the important stuff that’s going wrong.

And just to confuse things more. I need a passport to travel from kuala lumpur, malaysia, to srawak malaysia.

Same country but need passport and get 3months on mainland but only 1 month in sarawak.

But uk just opened another can of worms, expect tit for tat. Though its no big.deal to carry a pp when travelling.

There are no international borders between London and Glasgow, as they both come under UK government and you know that I'm sure.

UK citizens have always had to show passports to visit any EU country. The same should have always applied to those visiting UK, ID cards are notoriously easy to fake

Not true.

ou can use your identity (ID) card to travel to the United Kingdom (UK) up to and including 30 September 2021. From 1 October 2021 you will need a valid passport. If you become a UK resident on or before 31 December 2020, you can continue to use your ID card to travel between the Netherlands and the UK until at least the end of 2025.
