Answering your questions about WhatsApp’s Privacy Policy

Featured Replies

We recently updated our Privacy Policy and we have received many thoughtful questions. With some of the rumors going around, we want to answer some of the common questions we have received. We go to great lengths to build WhatsApp in a way that helps people communicate privately.

We want to be clear that the policy update does not affect the privacy of your messages with friends or family in any way. Instead, this update includes changes related to messaging a business on WhatsApp, which is optional, and provides further transparency about how we collect and use data.

unfortunately owned by the same "shxx" head  that owns FB, can't smell the guy he has a face that I would like to use as a punching bag.... but that's only my humble opinion anybody and everybody has the right to have their own

Got my answer on whether images are visible. Will find another way to upload them - they are comparison of what information WhatsApp is collecting and what kind of security it is offering, compared to Signal, Telegram and Facebook...

Any reason why Telegram and not Signal - especially after looking at the info in the graphic?

Likely choosing Telegram since that's what most of his friends and acquaintances use. If you download one that your people don't use, it won't do you much good. Just my guess.

WhatsApp in the "article" in the OP state what they do NOT do but do not explain what they are about to do on 8 Feb to those living outside of Europe.

From 8 Feb WhatsApp Users will be required to give their consent for Facebook to access their data, including their phone numbers and information about how they interact with others, in order to continue using the app.

The requirement will apply regardless of whether or not the WhatsApp user has a Facebook account.

Essentially, this means Facebook will be able to access account information including your phone number, information on how you interact with other users, and logs of how often and how long you use WhatsApp.

Other data that could be shared with Facebook includes your IP address, browser details, language and time zone.

Do you think they have not already taken all our private data?

This new T & C are just to clear their conscience...
