Keira Knightley: I won't shoot any more sex scenes directed by men

Keira Knightley has expressed her discomfort with shooting intimate scenes, saying that she will no longer do so if the film is directed by a man.

In conversation with director Lulu Wang and writer-producer Diane Solway on the Chanel Connects podcast, Knightley credited the “male gaze” and her own personal vanity with the decision.

“If I was making a story that was about that journey of motherhood and body acceptance, I feel like, I’m sorry, but that would have to be with a female film-maker,” Knightley said. “I don’t have an absolute ban, but I kind of do with men.”

She continued: “I don’t want it to be those horrible sex scenes where you’re all greased up and everybody is grunting. I’m not interested in doing that.

All greased up and everybody is grunting, hmmmmm, sounds familiar ????

I did just take the time to read the full article as I quite like her for her acting roles and in the Pirates movies she was pretty cool. However, these people that earn a living pretending to be someone else, and pretending to have horrible greasy, grunting sex and getting paid millions for their efforts and then go on to complain that they don't want to do that again because they don't really feel comfortable, should give some thought to the millions of poor girls around the world, including here in our beloved adopted county, who are real and have to endure the harsh reality of being paid (if they are lucky) to do real grunting sex. Overly rich, spoiled assed movie stars get to much attention and their opinions seem to be too readily accepted....there, I feel better now.

Regards,

Catkiwi ????

If someone wants to see a good sex scene they definitely won't be watching her in Pirates of the Carribean ! Or in any other film. She does play a fantastic role in the Pirates films though.

Why is it so important to Hollywood to have sex scenes (and smoking) in virtually every movie they make.  When you can't produce a movie with an actual plot - toss in a sex scene.

Always wondered the same thing.  It’s almost like filler to add an extra (useless) 10 minutes to the film.  Don’t really see much smoking in movies these days although I can’t remember ever seeing Nick Nolte without one in the movies of yesteryear.

When actors and actresses begin to refuse performing gratuitous sex scenes (of course, some are actually critical to the plot), then I will be impressed. Until then shut your pie hole and cash your check.

Flat chested. :coffee1: Next!

So does that mean no Thai girls in sex movies?

Wow....she is being really sexiest. She needs to apologize to men for discriminating and offending then.

No one is forcing her to do sex scenes. Simply read the scrips and if there is a sex scene in the film then dont apply for the job!

she does have a point, sex scenes in movies are <deleted> boring, and she comes across as a boring sex anyhow, so who want to see her like that in a movie ????

stay dressed up, you look better that way darling

Maybe she is at the point in her career where she can actually say this. I'm sure she won't if she hasn't established her name.

Back in the 60's it was a way to get photo spread in Playboy. Sharon Tate in "The Fearless Vampire Killers". Not a sex scene, but her in a sudsy tub... yum yum to my teenage mind
