I mistakenly tacked this onto one of click2delete's threads, and should post it separately.

My mate is UK citizen married to a Thai. He makes 25K per month as a school teacher, and she makes less than 10K. He's thinking of changing from a B work visa to an O married to a Thai visa, but I told him their combined salaries have to total 40K. He can't be grandfathered in (he's not a grandpa anyway, but I am! :o ) and he doesn't have income from abroad. I advised him to stay on his B visa. Correct?

He thought he could still show 400K in a Thai bank account (if he even can), but I thought that's obsolete.

Thanks; I'm sure the answer is hidden on 28 other topics here.

As teachers get a break using the employment category and he does not meet the family requirements he has to stay where he is if he wants to extend his stay. No more 400k for new applicants since Oct 2006.
