Democrat MP Pimraphee Phanwichatikul has said that tourism businesses need help now and accused the government of two months of dithering.

She urged the government to think clearly about how the world will look in a post pandemic, vaccine treated world and what this means for Thai tourism.

She suggested vaccinations for the public in tourist areas like Phuket be speeded up ahead of the arrival of foreign tourists later in the year.

This she put as October 2021.

Welcoming social security handouts that will start on March 1st she said, however, that this kind of approach was not sustainable in the long term.

She called for more assistance for micro SMEs (small and medium size enterprises) that were in dire trouble.

She wants the vaccine passport scheme for foreign tourists throughly investigated.

She sounds far to sensible for this parliament ????

This so called government couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag let alone come up with viable plans to rescue the tourism industry. They are full of control ideas but where are the high speed trains and all the other fancy pants dreams they kept waving in front of people. Nothing but hot air.

Shouldn't that be 12 months?

Anybody surprised? She's no newbie, she knows there will be lots of jockeying and lots of scams already well in place.

The Chinese are waving the fancy infrastructure ideas in front of the impressionable ASEAN governments. By delivering them at a very slow pace they can keep their influence / control over their neighbours....not only the Thais...
