The boss of The Crocodile Farm and Zoo in Samut Prakan near Bangkok has hit back at online critics.

The well known farm and zoo - a place where countless Bangkokians have visited over many decades - came under fire on social media for having gone downhill.

The post including pictures of allegedly sad and underfed animals and subsequent criticism that followed caused national park rangers to make a inspection visit.

They found everything was as normal and took no dramatic action.

Uthen Yangprphakorn was then visited by reporters from Daily News.

He defended everything about the condition of the animals and their living conditions and habitats.

He said the animals were well cared for, itemized the way the animals live and how they are looked after saying he had nothing to be ashamed of.

Whether it was the monkeys being fed by hand, the African cows, the bears, the tigers or the 10,000 plus crocs they were all looked after properly.

It was entirely normal that some crocs would kill each other and that tigers would behave in their enclosures as had been outlined on social media.

That was the nature of the beast.

One of the pictures showed a chimpanzee on a bicycle on a leash.

It was wearing a protective helmet.

Whether this epitomizes care or is exploitation is a matter of opinion.

The zoo  was once described as “hell on Earth for animals” by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

Of course it’s normal to have chimps running around on scooters – what does the public know

Tigers....enclosures..............there is one problem right there............as for a Chimp riding a scooter with or without helmet, I would like to see the owner on a scooter being led by a chimp......

And what is human nature ?

Cage in animals who should be free in natural habitats ?

At least the monkey has a crash helmet on, which is more than a lot of humans have, Zoo should be closed down of course
