SURVEY: Should foreigners in or coming to Thailand be required to be vaccinated?

With Thailand starting the roll out of it's vaccine, in your opinion should foreigners in Thailand be required to obtain a vaccine if they wish to remain in the country?   Should foreigners be eligible to be a part of the local roll-out of the vaccine, or should they be required to obtain it from private health providers?  With a large number of foreign workers from neighboring countries in low-paying jobs in Thailand, should they be vaccinated by the government?  Chose the option that best expresses your opinion on the situation.

Not one of the choices, but I think that resident foreigners who haven't left the country since pre-covid shouldn't, but all arriving foreigners should. Saying that, I haven't left the country since 2012, but I'll be getting the vaccine at the first opportunity as long as it isn't the Chinese or Russian version.

Though pro-vaccination, can't say I am keen on it being compulsory......but this is their country, so not really compulsory....if you object I guess you don't come here or you leave!!!!

I don't think any foreign resident should be forced to vaccinate, unless of course it's a part of a vaccination program that requires the same of Thais. Residents are residents regardless of nationality and should all be subject to the same rules.

 

Anyone entering or leaving the Kingdom can be required to follow different rules.  I expect we'll see the rules change over time as the pandemic either stays with us or becomes something that happened  in years past.

I do agree with you but at the same time I imagine that it will be required for those extending work / retirement / marriage visas to show they have been vaccinated. And you just know that while resident Westerners might get vaccinated for free, if there is a group of Thais and a group of Westerners and some Chinese vaccines and some American vaccines....you just know that the Westerners are going to get the Sinovac jab!

I want to get vaccinated, but I want a proven vaccine that is appropriate for my age - not the Chinese one and not AstraZenica.  I want either the Phizer or Moderna vaccine.

As expat, I don't mind to pay for vaccine, we pay for everything else after all.

However, especially if mandatory, expect a fair price, and not the +300% tax like on wine, which is by choice to buy (or not).

It's very interesting how many people are willing to queue up to inject a substance directly into their bloodstream without an ingredients list or with just emergency authorization when it comes to testing.

I chose no. 1 only on the provision that a suitable vaccine (not Sino or spudnik) is available before the extension deadline. Currently it appears earliest date will be April depending on availability at private healthcare institutions?

I would prefer a more proactive approach that when one appears for their extension at immigration that they are vaccinated by the Health Ministry if not already vaccinated (through employment, etc,).

Special visa members (Elite, Talent, etc.) would not be exempt.

That said, all IO's involved directly with visa extension applicants shall have had received their vaccinations and displayed a government certificate attesting such.

Pretty poor choice of options for a survey. Residents should be vaccinated, ideally all tourists should be vaccinated with a reputable vaccine. And in regards to people being exempt when "most" Thais are vaccinated well let's see how long it takes to achieve that but if Thailand wants to be in line as a tourist destination I honestly think vaccination "passports" for want of a better word will be required across the board from Airlines to tourism companies to host nations as well as some multi nationals. I imagine people working for airlines  shipping companies offshore will all be getting vaccinated if they want to keep their jobs.

  The anti vaxxers and those that think this vaccine is just some massive conspiracy will just have to live a life not involving travelling far from home.

   Further to that countries like Australia, New Zealand are only going to cop you entering the country if you have had Pfizer, Moderna possibly Johnson and Johnson. You won't be going anywhere decent with sinovac or Sputnik not that I think they are dangerous or ineffective but they aren't what is considered the benchmark atm.

Yes. Everyone traveling should get the jab or not be permitted to fly or enter a country.

Most Australians will only be able to get the Oxford/AZ vaccine in 2021, so you’d think that should be good enough for overseas visitors as well.

 I think at the end of the day with all or most of the Thai population Getting the vaccine.  Us foreigners expats ect won't have much choice  get the vaccine or could be problems with getting visas ect

I visit Thailand regularly and have been vaccinated but don't want to force residents unless the Thai Government requires it.  It's still Thailand and their citizens have the right to make that determination.

As far as I know there is no downside to vaccination. So everybody should get it - except for possible medical reasons.

If some people don't want to stay healthy nobody will force them to come to Thailand.

There are a myriad of very serious implications that surround compulsory vaccinations and I would put a very thoroughly and credibly researched comment here explaining the important issues why compulsory vaccinations are a very bad idea.. but it appears that my comment will only be removed, as other comments have, by the "moderators" on this forum. I think it's funny that it seems many people don't trust the Chinese or Russian vaccine. But at the same time they trust the vaccine which was developed and approved under high pressure from Trump.

 

I have to admit I don't know the big differences and if I would try to understand them I would probably fail. But I guess even in China and Russia the authorities are interested to protect their people and don't kill them. In real life we will probably only know in maybe 5 or 10 years which vaccines are better and worse. I don't want to wait that long.

OK so clearly you are against compulsary vaccinations is this all compulsory vaccination or just covid. Through our lives there are vaccines that you take and accept these are compulsary but nothing gets said.

 

People throughout the world have to take compulsory vaccinations or they cannot travel to certain countries ie Yellow Fever dont hve it trvelling from certain african countries then you cannot fy to certain other countries, yet no 1 complains about this they just get on with life.

 

Personally i think its all over rated get it and travel dont get it and stay at home its your choice.

As long as we get a choice to wich one we want to take i think it's ok , but there is not much choice at the moment so i think they can't pressure us to take the once they offer .

Actually, that is a pretty good idea. Go in for your extension and vaccination at the same time. You'll probably get through the vaccination line long before you're called in to complete your extension anyway.

If you are resident here, and have not left the country since before Covid 19 arrived, then you should be vaccinated on the same basis as the rest of the population, not just because you are a foreigner. I have no problem with paying the actual (as opposed to profiteering) cost of being vaccinated. 

 

If you wish to enter the country, for whatever reason, then perhaps you should be vaccinated.

 

If you don't wish to be vaccinated, then perhaps you should accept that you cannot enter.

You need 90% participation rate for heard immunity to work.

So the survey is useless because 9 out of every 10 people aren't stupid enough to get poisoned.

Anyone (namely me had mine) with a proven vaccination record should be allowed free unfettered access immediately especially to a unvaccinated country otherwise its all pointless ????

It is a loaded survey, so I did not answer it.

All incoming people entering Thailand should show a vaccination certificate or do 15 day quarantine.

Residents over 68 need not be vaccinated but if they wish to travel internationally they

need to be vaccinated
