• Family communities to supply marijuana to medical institutions

• Recreational use remains banned as users face fines or jail

Thai households can now grow six pots of cannabis each to supplement their income, the nation’s health minister said, as the first country in the region to legalize medical marijuana further eased rules to promote the crop’s commercial use.

Families may form communities to grow marijuana and supply the crop to public hospitals and state facilities, or use them to make food and cosmetic products as a fresh revenue source, Thailand’s Deputy Premier and Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said in a statement Friday.

“Marijuana and hemp are both economic crops and it provides a new option for locals to generate revenue,” Anutin said at a marijuana educational expo at Buriram, 400 kilometers northeast of Bangkok. “We are trying to ease restrictions to allow the public easier access to the plant, but please cooperate and use it correctly.”

Marijuana is hardly a medicine.

As a Christian I know says...can I draw your attention to Genesis 1:29 in the Bible  assuming you are not a 'hypocritical ' Christian

Six pots worth nothing isn't going to help anyone, how ridiculous can they get?

Marijuana is hardly a medicine. Even if it is, why would you want random locals supplying it to hospitals? They are sending out a mixed message, it's legal, it's not legal, it's medicine, it's not.

The fact is marijuana is an addictive drug that people use to get high. Smoking weed every day is not a solution to life. If you've got cancer or aids and want to smoke weed, then who are we to deny you that.

I agree with you about it's not clear wheter it's legal or not.

but you state to easily that it is addictive. how do you know that? a specialist?

I would say cigarettes are much more addictive, even alcohol... (women could be as well ????)

locals would consume marijuana either by eating it (like in curries) or smoking it (by bong).

and what do you think about the oil that is proven to be very effective.

if this government is really smart then they would legalize it, just like in USA, Canada and many other countries around the world, to get it out of criminal hands, guarantee quality and sell it in specialized shops.

do you realize how much in tax only there could be made?

Surprising. For most it is less damaging than alcohol. For some though whereas alcohol will affect you bit by bit marijuana can make you dimwitted and slow and for a certain small proportion it can affect your mental health significantly.

Pro-tip: Next time don't smoke before posting.

It's not.

I mean other than from the Government Pharmaceutical Office

When it is (never), you'll know.
