Date formats

Featured Replies

OK, only a minor issue, and probably just me missing the setting.

Since the upgrade I'm seeing dates in the US format mm/dd/yyyy instead of my normal UK format dd/mm/yyyy.  How do I change that please?

I've been through my profile settings but can't see the option there.  I also looked for something called "board settings" or similar, but if it's there, I can't see it.

Thanks.

I wonder if the forum software imposes the mm/dd/yyyy date format without the option of user configuration, ie configuration by Thaivisa. That would make it a software package of questionable quality, though.

If Thaivisa chose that format, somebody had to make an unenviable decision that was destined not to please everybody. There would, of course, be the ISO date format but that one is little used internationally. I believe I saw Thaivisa used it years ago for a while.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Possible.

I'm also wondering if it's just something not yet turned on in the new software and will appear when they finish the upgrade.

I don't even remember what date format was use before the outage.

The date format is the same as it was before the recent changes.

Nothing wrong with the software or the date format.  As the most blunt tool in the shed, even my peanut brain can swap numbers on the go no matter what the date format is.

If I think about it yes, but something like 03/11/2020 makes my peanut freeze in its shell.  In my PC, phone, and other media I use, that would be 03 November 2020, here it's 11 March 2020, all I really want is consistency.

One board that also uses Invision software shows "March 03, 2020", which always works, whatever format you're used to.

As I don't want to change everything else to US format dates, I'd rather change this one if possible.  Before, I'm sure I had it set to UK format, I can't remember doing that, but it would have been many years ago, and I'd certainly have noticed if it was different.

Only a minor bump in the great roadway of life.  ????

edit, changes to the new software are still happening, I see the "up" arrow is back now.

When posting in an international forum like this I never use 12/3/21 or 3/12/21 and such.

Always use short form for the month ("12 Mar 2021" or "March 12, 2021").

But "misunderstandings" have caused major havoc in technical environments.

And I hate to read a flight schedule of 3/14/21 12:05 AM ????

Thanks, but posting you can use any format you like, forum generated dates you can't, they're set in the software.    ????

Just meant as a hint for posting and avoid confusion.
