Why? There are ATMs outside nearly every 7-11.

Possibly Bangkok Bank have decided that they can drastically reduce the number of ATMs they have (they are expensive bits of kit, and cost to maintain and keep filled up) if 7/11 fulfills the same function? Presumably the agreement will prevent the other major banks from doing the same.

Years ago back in NZ when you checked out at the supermarket with your ATM card the cashier always asked if you would like some cash. The system was called EFTPOS

The bank said the service is available 24/7...

Are 7-11s now open 24/7 again?

I don't get the photo ID requirement. When I use the same Bangkok Bank app to make a cardless ATM withdrawal, I can withdraw a much larger amount just like that. I never carry my passport to 7/11 and who knows if they accept any other form of ID from a foreigner, so I'd guess I'm out of luck.

But not necessarily BBL ones because if you use another banks ATM, you pay a fee.

My guess is that 95% of 7-11s have ATMs which also has 24 hour service.

You may begin to notice CP chicken has stopped allowing ATMs at 711 branches as they are doing their own banking service or they want a cut in the action thus the service charge designed to "help people".????

Other banks will be forced to join the scheme if they want access. ????

It's not rocket science.

15 baht fee, as it appeared in the post that you only quoted part off; for example if you cash 100 baht and pay 15 baht in fee...????

That still doesn't explain why offering a cash withdrawal service is a move towards a cashless society.  Surely it is the opposite?

Saying there is a 15 baht fee doesn't answer the question.  We're waiting.

Not quite true. You get a certain amount of free transactions each month when you use another banks ATM. As long as you are in the same province as the bank that issued the card.

Also many 7-11 branches have ATM from other banks, often Krung Thai Bank  , Kasisorn Bank  and Government Saving Bank.

So Bangkok Bank want their customers avoid them.... and use the 7-11 inside......

Just another way to get more money into the banks hands and 7-11's with the fee charged and then the amount kicked back to 7-11.

You complain about 15 baht...tai leow.

But not a lot of them are Bangkok Bank ATM.s

I've already answered this in a post four posts above yours.

Besides, after driving a long way, are you really going to quibble over 20 Bt, or so by using another bank's ATM?

It's fairly simple, if you think about it. Instead of paying up to 15 percent fee for having cash in your hand, you might begin to pay with the card; i.e. moving towards "cashless society", which various governments want us to do, both to save production of cash money, but mainly for better control of money flow and taxation...????

If you can get 5000 baht for the 15 baht fee, what are you complaining about. People who only need 100 baht or even 500 baht

and want to pay 15 baht fee for that, well what can I say about the word stupid?  I see it in my country for people in casinos who

go to an ATM machine for only 100 or 200 dollars at a time for the fee they pay.  The adage about fools and their money

happens.  Thats life ,

Geezer

Well 7/11 ( or more specifically my teenage daughters enthusiasm for shopping there for " things I need Daddy" ) is at times responsible for a cashless society in the "Herfiehandbag" household in the last few days of the month!

Translation: Didnt actually know what he was talking about, shot from the hip and is now covering up.

Not a bad cover up story though. ????

The only time it's 15% is if you withdraw exactly 100 baht.
