Well thats welcome news as most on here would prefer the old traditional  ways of celebrating Songkran

Rather than  the water fights , powder, alcohol ect

Common sense prevails

It looks like being a dry Songkran again this year after comments made by the culture minister Itthiphol Khunpleum following a cabinet meeting yesterday,

Translated:
Another year with huge losses of Songkran revenue.  Well, at least in the cities and tourist spots.  Nobody is going to pay any attention out in the rural sticks.  In the villages life goes on as normal as life in the big cities embrace new normal and all the economic destruction that goes along with it.

The cuture of sex, money, power, greed, privledge, entitlement, corruption, hypocracy and so forth.

You think the kids next door will listen to the government ?

And neither should they even bother ..

So many hate the festival  ? Lock yourself s up , don't try and enforce your attitudes on others .

Embrace and enjoy

I  can see the thais following the rules given.songkran without water by the thais  i think not

It seems there's a bit of miscommunication, as usual. What the good general intended was to only allow pocket sized hand-sanitizer bottles as was demonstrated by himself, given the pandemic.

Maybe make recommendations to a larger committee?

Honestly, the PM makes all the decisions.

I don't see anything wrong with this decision

Songkran that this year has been declared a six day holiday from April 10th to 15th.

Ludicrous, it's normally three days at most, and only a single day of real fun in many places. Just cancel the whole wretched affair again, there's still a nationwide drought to consider too.

Paying respects to the elderly . Yep I am in that group , give me respect , no water tossers please.

Into free groping aren't you? snakehead!

This was last March during the first wave:

Shortly after Bangkok governor Aswin Kwanmuang ordered the closure of shopping malls and markets, except those selling food and essential consumer goods for three weeks, five provinces of Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Pathom, Nonthaburi and Pathum Thani followed, triggering speculation that a full lockdown was coming.

About 80,000 people boarded buses heading out of Bangkok last Sunday.

Some folks keep promoting the concept that those going to the provinces are going to spread the disease.  I guess they forgot about last year when 100's of thousands left for the provinces.  Remember the photos of the overwhelmed bus stations?  Many predicting the country would then sink into a pandemic bliss.  Yet, there was no major if any identified spread of the infection to the provinces.

But, those can keep projecting the worse I guess we will see.  I bet the same will happen as last year and the infections in the provinces will be practically nil.

I don't want to be continually soaked by "funsters" enforcing their attitudes on me.

Let them soak each other.
