Maybe things have changed. When I obtained a new passport from Oz embassy Bangkok, I was also given a letter to provide to immigration. The letter basically gives Thai immigration "permission" to enter information from old pp to new. I have in recent times read where people did not have letter and there was no issue. The service (should be) free.

Be aware that it's not an urgent thing. You can travel with both passports both within Thailand and internationally. Transfer when it suits you.

Don't forget to update your new passport # with your bank so they can change you pp# to match your new pp.

I did that a couple of weeks back, also at Jomtien, but had a letter from UK Embassy that was given at the time of new passport collection. Maybe the stamp in your new passport will be sufficient.

In addition to Embassy form, just needed copies of old passport ID page / extension / complete a form that the reception desk give you. Then go back to the front desk and they will give you a number for desk 8 (retirement desk).

The lady there checks your details and, in my case, took a couple more copies with their small copier - very helpful. Then gave me the usual number identifier and told to return next day to collect, which I did. No charge.

I no have to notify bank what about drivers licence

You will need to go into your bank and give them your new passport. They will photocopy and update your records.

Your driving licence will have your old passport jumber on it. I did not change my drivers licence but when I renewed it a few weeks ago they put the new passport number on my licences.

Agree, especially the importance about remember to update new passport number everywhere, and the letter was needed in my case, and so it's also often explained in posts.

If it has your pasport number – if you have Yellow Book/pink ID it might have your Thai ID-number – you need to update it.

Also any other place linked to your passport number, which could be loyalty cards requiring ID for cashing points.
