Dark Field (laser) mouse on glass surfaces: Glass wax for less friction??

Recommended Posts

I just bought a new Logitech laser mouse so I could use it on my glass desk.  It works fine on glass but there's too much friction.

Can anyone recommend a good wax or maybe a PTFE coating, or anything to make the movement of the mouse smoother on glass surfaces, and that can easily be purchased here in Thailand (like on Lazada)?

I remember a product in the States called simply "Glass wax" that was used for this purpose on high-end Xerox copiers with document auto feeders but it's no longer being made.

Couldn't you just use a mouse pad ?

I bought a dark field mouse specifically so no mouse pad was necessary.

I got those mouses too... but i still use a mouse mat (big one). It just works better then on my wooden desk. i hope you find what you need.. no mouse mat looks better.

Who is looking at whether you have a mouse pad or not?

My computer is in my livingroom, my GF is a social animal usually have friends over. All a bit more high class. So the room needs to look relatively ok. Can't have my usual mess.

If that were my case and one of my GFs friends even commented on my computer set-up/mouse mat, they would be told in no uncertain terms to 'go away'', and I would probably then look for a new GF with lower-so friends.    LOL

I get comments on what a nice mouse mat I have.

I have a bog standard Microsoft mouse. Works fine on ANY surface.

No I am happy with my GF, we share a house and she is the one (her work) paying for it. So its not as if I am the boss here.

I just selected the livingroom because i worried that if i put it up in one of the other free rooms i would not come out of it anymore. I use the computer a lot. So my desk needs to be a bit presentable. I mean you would not invite people while your house was a mess would you.

So i try to keep my desk looking as best i can. Not saying a mouse mat looks bad. But it would have looked more slick without one.

My expensive mouse works good on my table too... its just on a mouse mat it slides smoother.

How about putting some thin fabric under the mouse, like sticking it under the mouse so that only the mouse is covered. That should make it easy to move to mouse over glass.

Or maybe Teflon tape, I just checked they have that on Lazada.

That's a good idea about teflon tape ????  I'll look into that.  Thanks
