@bangon04 Lets just see if the remodelling includes runways far longer than necessary for commercial airliners ... as per the new "international airport" in Dara Sakor which is still just jungle on Google Maps satellite view!

Gosh I thought that construction was nearly finished but now it turns out that the actual start of construction is still many years away however they are already one year ahead? ????????

Exactly, everything is always crystal clear in Thailand!!!

In normal times, there's a bus every 20 minutes or so from early morning until evening, that takes two hours. There are also innumerable mini-vans and taxis available.

Correct.  And the taxi will take you right to your door.  The train will dump you out in the middle of nowhere somewhere on the Darkside.  So, you'll end up taking a taxi anyway to get you the rest of the way.   Or, some sort of tram in to Pattaya and then a taxi if the tram doesn't go anywhere near where you are staying.

Seems like many things the Thai government is going to do are several years away.

At least the mission to orbit the moon is still going forward though I haven't heard much about it lately.

Near completion is my bet.

You must have missed the update.  Newest study indicates that there is more space between earth and the moon than expected, necessitating an increase of 60% to project costs.

I think the sad think is that the social and environmental impacts of this rail system are being sidelined and overruled by the authorities.

The iductrail zones of Chonburi, Rayong and Chachoengsao have created problems for the local population for decades and this seems just another blow to them.

Is it just me or is the headline statement “ahead  of schedule” seem a bit of an overstatement in view of the current status?

Not really.

They planned to set a schedule for a potential scheme to consider taking action next year, but have tentatively thought about perhaps bringing it forward an unspecified amount of time.

All clear now?

What makes Thailand any different to any other country in this type of thing. Even the great western countries never build any big infrastructure on time and on budget. They are all the same always late and always above budget, America, Australia, Europe they are all the same. So all you Thai bashers can start bashing your home countries because they are no different to Thailand

Very true. Elimination of existing level crossings and construction of elevated railway stations at Khon Kaen and Ban Phai went amazingly quickly. Result is faster journey times for both rail and road users. Safer too!

No problem. They can simply refit one of the Chinese submarines for space travel.

Also, they don't need fuel for the return trip because it's all downhill from Moon to Earth.

Thai people are very good at improvising. Just look at how much they can load onto a tiny truck, carry mattresses on motorbikes along with three riders, etc. And..... the good news is that masks will not be needed aboard the craft since there are no viruses in space!

Have faith my friend.

Only someone that does not live on the eastern line would think that a bus or minibus equates to a passenger train service.

Nothing ever gets finished, that hasn't been started.

Totally agree! People who boast of never using public transport (and never will) are those that complain about the construction of high-speed rail links. They also complain why it takes hours to cross a city centre by car and about the cost of parking.
