PHUKET: The Royal Thai Navy Third Area Command, based in Phuket, has seized an Indonesian fishing boat for illegally entering Thai economic fishing zone waters off Phuket,  using a sieve net for hauling in its catch.

Thai fishing boats in the area on Thursday night reported three Indonesian fishing vessels operating 122 miles (some 219km) directly west of Phuket, the Third Area Command reported.

Personnel at the Navy base in Phang Nga relayed the report to the Third Area Command headquarters at Cape Panwa, Phuket, at 8:30pm that night.

The Indonesian government policy is to sink vessels fishing illegally in their own waters and the Thai government should consider applying the same response. (PS......Don't forget to take the crew off first)

See, now say Thailand doesn't need submarines .....................LOL

Unfortunately they will probably a have radar system that only picks up metal objects and the wooden fishing vessels will be invisible !

Sounds like a t_t-for-tat, Indonesia has been seizing Thai and other foreign fishing boats in it's waters.

A few years back they seized a Thai boat and a Thai reporter (female) was dispatched to some back of beyond location in Indonesia to report on it, she revealed that the Thai crew had been "press ganged" shaming Thailand in the eyes of the world.  I think Thai media didn't run the story, but other media in the region did, maybe ChannelNewsAsia or Al Jaz.

Perhaps it's a Widodo policy
