I am desperate for some proper Colman's English Mustard. I've tried Makro and a few other places but can't find it. Can anyone point me towards somewhere that sells it here, either in a bricks and mortar shop or online? My ham sandwiches and home-made burgers just aren't the same without it.

Unfortunately Villa Market won't deliver to my address but I'll pick up some next time I travel.

Could try Lazada. Deliver to anywhere and pretty quick but more expensive. Depends how much you want it.

Exactly the same, but a bit more effort as you have to mix it first.

My mother only ever used Coleman's mustard powder, one tin lasted years.

That's nuts, more than ten times the price in the UK. I'll just have to be conservative when using it. How can something that costs 50 baht in the UK end up costing 500-600 baht in Thailand?

We have a small type Supermarket chain here called Sentosa. They sell small boxes of powdered mustard under the Brooks brand. Just make a paste out of it with a few drops of water at a time. Proper hot English mustard. Be very easy to miss if you dont know what your looking for. I imagine available Makro maybe even Big C

For me, it's Colman's or nothing. I love that feeling of having your sinuses blasted out.

I live in a small village, none of the Thai supermarkets will deliver to my address, so I will have to go and buy as much as I can next time I am in Bangkok. I usually stay around soi 11, so where should I go to buy it?

 

Thanks in advance, I know this might seem like a petty matter, but it's important for me. I can get Heinz American mustard here but it's basically yellow mayonnaise, and it doesn't clear out my sinuses.

I agree which is why a rarely order food I miss. However , I just couldn't get OXO beef stock cubes locals so ordered some online for things like spagetti and chilli  etc. Needs must.

I use the Thai Knorr Beef stock cubes, great for chilli con carne, spaghetti bolognese, beef casseroles and they only costs a few baht. Add in a splash of Worcestershire sauce, you won't notice the difference.

Tops sell it but our local Makro in Udon does also

Its not too bad at all, and would have it rather than have nothing but it is different to Lea and Perrins, has that Chinese five spice flavor they are fond of here

This is the one, and it will give your sinuses a blast. I think Chinese and Thai people use mustard for different things so should be available most places. Not easy to find if you don't know what you're looking for. 34 baht last time I bought it and just like the old school English powdered Mustard we get back home. I mix it with the Browns mustard you buy here. great on Ham sangas / fresh bread

My mum always mixed Colman's mustard powder with a little milk rather than with water.  Can't remember why, but she did.

Yes, that I have managed to get locally in Tesco ( but not seen yet in Big C ) .

I can get delicious chicken liver pate in Big C but not Tesco. Between them both I don't do too bad but I will definitely keep a look out for the knorr beef stock.

I see duck liver pate from Casino, which is expensive, and I'm not sure if they even have it currently

Does wasabi taste the same as English mustard? Because they have it in my local 7-Eleven but I've only tasted it maybe once and can't remember what it was like.

I was surprised to see it and found it delicious spread over a toasted slice of my home baked wholemeal bread.

 

Normally if I find an exotic product that I like it is the kiss of death but so far so good with this. Been available for about 2 months now and I am expecting it to disappear before much longer.

If you can’t remember what it tasted like you probably didn't have a big enough dollop.......usually a fiery sensation up your left nostril follows a decent sized sample.

 

I would say that wasabi is stronger than mustard.

 

Thais seem to prefer wasabi...

Not sure if you are in Pattaya but Siamsburis have a better product at a lower price....... 65 Baht from memory.

Real Wasabi is very expensive, as it is difficult to grow.

 

Most commercial wasabi powders do not contain any real wasabi, which is very expensive. They are made from Western horseradish and mustard flour mixed with starch as a binding agent.

 

Chinese use brown mustard seeds to make their hot mustard, which should be available in Thailand.  Colman uses a blend of milder white/yellow and the hotter brown seeds.

Ha ha. Thats just the manufacturers logo. The Thai script says chicken.
