A survey conducted by the Ministry of Further Education in 3,000 tambons or sub-districts showed that the great majority of Thais know about Covid and how to protect themselves.

Official at the ministry Siririk Songsiwilai said that the information drive called U2T had been conducted since February and included a survey.

1.4 million households were reached along with 15,000 markets, 24,000 places of religion and 21,000 schools, reported Bangkok Business News.

86% of the population knew about how Covid was spread and the measures needed to limit the spread.

Those that were lacking - some households and entry to markets in particular - were receiving back up advice and help to raise awareness.

"86% of the population knew about how Covid was spread"

Guess that is correct and not surprising as it was all over social media the antics of government officials at those clubs in Thong Lor which made it very simple to understand how easily it can spread.

Evidently that was the plan ????

.........just spent Songkran in our tiny, little Isan village.......no masks.....huge family gatherings (30 plus all sat together) with Bangkok relatives......shared cups and drinking water from a barrel......they may know what to do, but they aren't doing it.

The only difference I see.....West v East ....... here no one hugs or kisses???

Yes; they lack the most important emotion...Empathy !

And yet they welcomed family from the hot zones with open arms and parties for that is what Songkran is all about.  Nice way to start of the New Year for each family with a beautiful present called Covid.

I know a lot too, but do I do as I know???? The problem is not the knowledge, but doing it... look at the motorcycles.. they know they have to wear a helmet but do they do it??

Covid. The gift that they leave behind when they go.

Yep.

It's like with HIV: Thais use a condom with prostitutes, but not with someone they love. It's a sign of trust and love to do it without a condom.

So with covid: auntie rides a bicycle to visit her friend. On the bicycle she wears a mask.  When she is chatting with her friend, the mask is off.

Alcohol is non-existent in the village. Hand washing is not Thai culture anyway.

'showed that the great majority of Thais know about Covid and how to protect themselves.'

Very true, but also true very few actually put it into practice.

1,582 cases today, waiting on the breakdowns now

Knowing what to do and doing it are 2 different things.  They KNOW that driving all over the country to mix with family and friends is the wrong thing to do, but they still do it.  Rules always apply to other people, never personally.

Wuflu- the gift that keeps on giving. Wufluland growth rate 13pcpa and rising. Short lockdown small price to pay!

And a very dangerous gift it is.

A gift that will largely be under the Radar for the press in Rural Thailand

Maybe that was the Songkran Plan all along from the Government
