Disagree, 35 is low profile, 70 is crazy world wide today, tyres are so much better.

Well we can agree to disagree I know what I feel and know what a soft ride is in a vehicle that has a truck chassis on roads in Thailand.

  • Stop messing around, you live in Thailand so do what the locals do, 60 psi.  I nearly had a heart attack when I saw a Thai setting the pump for this pressure and I asked him why so high, his answer, g

  • 29 - 30 all four will be just fine.

  • The correct answer to the OP question is 29psi all round cold. That's not guess work I have one. You will find the PSI on the drivers door jam.

The 2.8 Fortuna TRD Sport was factory fitted with 20" and has different shocks to the standard models.  I assume those shocks have different specs to work better with the 20". I was concerned about impact on ride quality but it does not seem any worse. Prior to buying this we had rented several Fortuners with smaller alloys so we did have something to compare to.

But yes in the distant past with my cars a couple of times I've fitted larger aftermarket alloys with low profile tyres and always regretted it. Looked great,  and better ultimate grip, but a very crashy ride and the extra rolling resistance and extra weight resulted in noticeably heavier fuel consumption as well.

Not only different shocks but different springs and brakes. I always put 29 psi all round as per their suggestions. Its fab on fuel Av: 6.2LT = 100km on a run around 7LT in town.  Also rides very well. You can sling it into corners without any movement or lean. Far better than my old TRD Tuna and 1,000 time better than my old 4x4 Vigo. I used to loose the rear on that most of the time. Due to it's small rims and balloon tires. Great fun but suggest you don't try it.

Errrrr 70 profile is the sidewall height.... not width.

50 profile is fine with a 20" rim, the sidewall height is 5.2" assuming the tire is a 265.

265/50R20 is a standard fitment on most SUV/pickups sold with 20" rims.

I understand everything about tyres and it wasn't me suggesting to use 70 profile tyres. What point are you trying to make?????

Ahhh ok, yeah when you put a space between world and wide it reads entirely different.

If the twenties rims are stock for the vehicle, then what's on the plate/sticker at the drivers door is the manufacturers recommendation. Another poster highlighted this earlier and got laughed at!

So if 29psi is stated on the plate/sticker, that's the manufacturers recommendation.
