Sorry for being a bit dumb, but can anybody tell me what outreach testing is?

They've just changed the term, it = pro active testing

Province by province breakdown of today's newly reported  COVID cases, along with the comparable chart from yesterday for comparison purposes.

Provinces are listed in the order as reported by the Ministry of Public Health. Although the data is for new daily COVID cases, the ranked listing in the charts is based on the provinces total number of COVID cases (numbers not shown in the charts) since the pandemic began.

With all the ex-pats in Thailand many of them old with pre-existing conditions I have yet to hear of a single one of them dying from COVID-19 I know many of you will not do this I’ll give a heads up to Thailand for doing such a damn good job controlling this pandemic. And that’s amazing for a country of 70 million people 104 deaths in 15 months

Supposing Thailand had a proper elected government instead of a bunch of military academy educated soldiers running the country, would the statistics not be much better considering the "government" is mostly responsible for this and the last wave of the Chinese virus by letting in the Burma illegal workers, the situation of certain Bangkok clubs, and allowing all the traveling during Songcran?

It doesn't matter if a country has a good healthcare system or not. Like you said countries with a good and even free healthcare system has the same mortality rate then other countries who don't have it. Why? Because it's a virus. There isn't much they can do for you if you have it bad. At least you can be sure that these numbers from such countries are quiet right.

Health quality and age seem to me major risk factors, e.g. obesity rate USA = 36.2%, Thailand 10% (2016); the US population also has relatively more elderly. Then there is a wide range of climatic and cultural factors.

Birmese workers have always been let into the country, regardless of who is in power. I don't think it would make much difference. It certainly could have been much worse in the first wave than it was.

I still think the statistics would have been better with a proper elected government, though I do see where you are coming from.

There are theories floating around about Neanderthal genetics somehow being responsible for increased severity of infection, or decreased severity, depending on the time of day, or which expert is making the pronouncement.

It is conceivable that some genetic contribution from Denisovans provides some relief from severe infection for Asians.  Although Asians have Neanderthal genetic contributions, Europeans don’t have Denisovan genetic contributions. Or .... Asians might have some genetic input from some currently unknown ancestor. We might get a clue on this in a few decades.

Don't forget Asians also have Homo Floresiesis and Homo Luzonesis genes too...gotta be good for something.

WHERE are the vaccines ?

WHY are hospitals NOT allowed to buy

them yet ?

Maybe because there are none available for sale...the rich woke Western countries have bought up and hoarded all the supplies and said "good luck with the pandemic" to everyone else.

The rich countries have directly funded some of these companies, with tax payers money, by signing contracts last summer, when it was not even sure the vaccines would be approved. Which is why the current discussion on patents.

Other countries have been less proactive and preferred to have a wait and see approach.

The EU is currently in the process of purchasing a further 1.8 billion doses of Pfizer, to be delivered until 2023, because they are aware booster shots will be needed to protect against new variants.

Climate factors are deemed irrelevant with Corvid as the massive deaths in Brazil, Mexico & India show. Although possibly being indoors more in winter months increases spread from asymptomatic people especially youngsters to over 50s .

Age factor possibly - Europe and America have more elderly but health care is generally better too. They have more  advanced ICU technology, specialists are widespread in all major hospitals , high class drugs are in easy supply. But the more recent UK and Brazil variant is hitting younger people too especially 40s & 50s. Over weight and not fit - definitely highly correlated with Covid 19.

There is still the mystery of how Thailand can be doing so much better than an advanced country like Japan.

Shouldn't they allow middle and lower income countries to order their first round of vaccines before they swoop in and hoard year's worth of vaccines?

Why would Thai citizens get vaccinated before me, on MY money?

And Thailand in particular chose local production over imports, because public health is less important than the interest of some specific local company.

If your province isn't in either of those lists, that should mean that the government didn't report any new COVID cases there for those two days.

Well, no. There doesn’t seem to be any genetic contributions from those 2 species, at least none identified so far. If there were, it would only be among people on Flores and Luzon mostly. But there could have been something roaming in te Asian mainland that we don’t know about yet.

Maybe something to do with passing on the virus to somebody else who could get seriously sick or die as a result?

Don't be silly mate. That sort of statement has kept the world on its knees for over a year. That would mean everyone should get tested every 14 days to make sure, it's pure BS!!!
