unfortunately about 20% of drinkers will lose all impulse control and therefore are quite dangerous in a pandemic. These actions have contributed heavily to illness rates throughout the world. But, just like the yabba cartels, the booze industry yields huge influence and control and therefore won't be banned. Even if that occurred, there's quite a few folks living here that would be cooking up the juice just as they do in the M.E.  - so no worries, everyone will always get their fix..

The article is about somebody smearing spit on buttons of an elevator, not something what most people do.

The most disturbing thing here is the Thai man calling the foreigner "it". 

He is wearing the pensioner uniform -  checked shirt and shorts.

Hardly newsworthy, I've done much worse in my time here when a drunk. Even when I stole a bus in Nontaburi, it didn't even make the local newspaper. 

This is just one of the side effects of THAI true love...

Years ago I was in Ubon visiting a friend. We went to one of the farang bars. My barstool neighbor was Euro, but I'm not too good picking out those accents. Could've been French. He was a little too eager to spill his guts, and despite indicating I wasn't interested kept on going. He'd had supposedly made his fortune in a chain of restaurants back home, was in Thailand over 10 years, had been through two Thai wives and bought them houses, cars, yadda yadda. I wonder. Heh. I guess that describes a lot of folks unfortunately.

He probably does no such thing as wondering why he is single, only you seem to think he should. He no doubt always thinks he is in the right and its everybody else that his wrong, including his 2 former wives, much like many people on this forum. He like many others appears to be obnoxious, but having said that someone here  stated he is bi-polar which may explain his actions but not excuse them.

Normally it is the former wives that were in the wrong.

I've encountered many former wives (mine and other guys), and I don't think I've ever felt 'He deserved to lose his house and assets'. I've never met any 'former wives' that came out of a marriage with less than they went in.

That's just how life is.

 

When I think back on all the stories posted about Thai guys going 'postal' on former wives and lovers, I can only wonder at the level of racism and xenophobia that it took the reporters to publish this story about a trivial event ........

I live in Ubon and from reliable sources; this gentleman is definitely bi-polar. When these people do not take their medication they go off the rails. I have personal experience of dealing with this here in Ubon. 14 years ago, a young Australian was bipolar. He had been in and out of the Ubon psychiatric hospital several times. After being mentally okay for several weeks he was on his way back to Australia. I took him to Ubon airport to catch his flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport. He checked in and made his way to the departure lounge. I hung around to wait for the flight to depart. Suddenly I was called into the departure lounge. The young Australian was creating havoc in the VIP lounge. Throwing stuff around, sitting on the floor and taking his shoes off. He saw me, got up and rushed back out into the main part of the airport. Opened a fridge, and rolled bottles of drinks along the floor. Then he ran out into the car park, waving and singing in and out of the cars. Shortly, a police car came with two police ladies who easily escorted him into their car. He was quiet as a lamb. They took him straight back to the Ubon psychiatric hospital where he remained for a couple of months. Later in the year we finally got him back to Australia, where sadly, he died a few months later.

That truly is a sad story. Unfortunately I am not convinced as to whether the medical authorities here would have diagnosed that in this person or perhaps he never sought help or even recognised that he needed help. Very easy for all of us to be judgmental, often wrongly, when we do not know all the facts.
