Farang99 Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 I believe the UK is planning to distribute kits for treatment of Covid at home. Seems a good idea and will avoid the risk of acquiring Covid from a hospital. Does anyone know the composition of these kits. Pharmaceuticals are generally available over the counter in Thailnd (with the exceptions of steroids and opioids) so I would expect the necessary drugs to be available.
Excel Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 Where is the source of your claims that the "UK is planning to distribute kits for treatment of Covid at home". Never seen it myself and it appears to be a load of misleading bunkum.
Popular Post Sheryl Posted April 27, 2021 Popular Post Posted April 27, 2021 Post with dangerous misinformation on COVID treatment has been removed along with replies to same. UK and other countries have long told people with mild or asymptomatic people to stay at home (and self isolate, obviously). I have not heard anything about UK preparing special "kits" for this purpose. You can read NHS guidance for home care of COVID here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/how-to-treat-symptoms-at-home/ The mainstays of home management for COVID anywhere in the world are: Stay well hydrated and well nourished Get plenty of rest Take paracetemol for fever and/or muscle aches IF no contraindication to it IF no contraindications and if paracetemol alone insufficient can alternate it with an NSAID like ibuprofen (take with food). Avoid if history iof gastritis, ulcer, bleeding disorder or kidney disease. Monitor your blood oxygen level with a pulse oximeter, these can be bought online., Seek immediate medical care if pO2 drops below 90 (make sure first the probe in correctly applied! Especially if you feel well. Poor contact by the probe will give a false low reading) The above any medical authority would recommend. A zinc supplement like Rodaxan (Vit c plus zinc, available at any pharmacy in Thailand) can't hurt, might or might not help, personally I'd take it it's a bit late for Vit D supplementation if already ill but won't hurt as long as you stick to recommended dosage of not more than 400 iu a day. Have someone else keep an eye on your condition who knows to call an ambulance promptly if you show a change in level of consciousness, drop in oxygen level, have subjective difficulty breathing or breathing looks labored, or otherwise just look really "off". You might not be able to do this yourself and it can happen quickly. 4
clivebaxter Posted April 27, 2021 Posted April 27, 2021 (edited) You may as well take smarties for pain than paracetamol, almost useless in my experience. Probably not allowed to say what I have in the cupboard apart from D3 and Zinc. Might get an oximeter. Lots on Lazada, this looks as if it might do the job https://www.lazada.co.th/products/fingertip-pulse-oximeter-heart-rate-monitor-medical-blood-oxygen-i1364162261-s3449606186.html?spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.33.46a017dckVSjhs&search=1 Edited April 27, 2021 by clivebaxter
treetops Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 OP may be mistakenly referring to free home test kits which have recently been made available in the UK. 1
Patong2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Perhaps there is confusion related to testing of Pfizer protease inhibitor which would be distributed as part of home care kit. UK has put emphasis on this and this was discussed in news past few days. I see report of testing in Belgium. We are months if not year away from the treatment.
