Yea and I suspect that's part of the reason he didn't respond.

Just in case you are referring to me HuskerDo, I would love to respond, but there have been faults with this forum recently, and there were no facilities to respond.

If Thailand was the same 15 years ago as it is now, I would never have come here to stay, and if it was not for my loving wife and her family, I would be making plans to leave as soon as this Chinese virus subsides a bit and the borders reopen.

When you get your Non-Imm OA visa in your passport, you have one year until you actually need to enter Thailand on it (if I remember correctly from when I did it).  If it were me, and if I could cancel and then reschedule my flight for no penalty or change fee, I would pull the plug and then come later when (one hopes) things will be more stable here in Thailand.  You will lose the money you paid for insurance, but you should not have to do the visa again as long as you enter Thailand within a year.  (Someone correctly me if I have misremembered....)

You are correct - except that he can probably get a refund on the insurance or, quite likely, get the company to change the effective date to match his revised travel date.

He has not responded re his reasons for coming here but unless there is some compelling personal reason why he wants to be here quickly, waiting makes sense. It is neither a fun time to be here now nor an easy time to get settled here given all the COVID restrictions.
