Large Hospital and a Tambon Health Center within 8 km of us.  Tried both this morning with a copy of the supposed statement from the Health Department.  Staff at both know us from previous contacts.

 

Both said "mai dai falang".

primary care center is the correct name, and in thai anumai thanks to another poster. They are all over Thailand, in every subdistrict I think.

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but my Dr today who i high up in the local hospital and has her own clinic, said the system doesn't differentiate from the ID Card that foreigners have, but she is 110% certain that if farangs go to their appointments, self included, we will be turned away as it's Thai's first, however she said by the end of the year there will be about 7 vaccines approved for foreigners to choose from, as for it being free, she doubts it.

 

Make of that what you will, I was there today for my annual Flu shot and this Dr is well regarded within the community so with her position being high within the hospital, e.g. head of a department, she would know what's going on as far as I am concerned, so maybe keep up what you have been doing for the past few months, and hold out till the end of the year or sooner of this comedy cappers of a government changes it's stance which I doubt.

My idea of bringing my posts, was to show there is another way to get registrated, if people do not get the pink card.  Good to get registred, then we show the problem, only  time can show when or if we will get it and under what conditions. But it looks dirty, what the government is speaking to day, but that can change tomorrow. Lets try to be optimistic even it is difficult ????

This is the Thai script for "anamai:" [อนามัย], which means government health center.  The word itself does not appear on the sign outside the clinic.  What is written on the sign is: โรงพยาบาลส่งเสริมสุขภาพตำบล which translates to "Tambon Hospital for Upholding Health."

Yep, I agree. All you have to do is try and stay alive between now and the end of the year and you'll be fine. That means no going outside for the next six months because as soon as the locals get vaccinated it will be masks off time, they will be deemed no longer necessary, and our risk will increases exponentially.

I know what you mean, we have one just round the corner from our house. It is the reception area of an old hospital which has been turned into a sanatorium, just a waiting room and consulting room in use.

I am registered there but have only ever been to get a medical certificate for a driving licence.

As we all have to eat, and do a little socialising, you have to get outside, and the suggestion I would have for you and other would be, depending on age and if you have any pre-existing conditions, is to get an annual Flu shot and the Pneumonia shot, the latter is usually for those over 65, or 60 with pre-existing conditions.

 

The above said you should discuss this with a qualified Dr of course, I did this last year noting Pneumonia kills close to 50,000 people per year in Thailand, so to me, that is far more dangers than Covid at the moment, not taking your eyeball of Covid off course.

 

Both shots from my Google searches suggest from studies that both shots provide some immunity against Covid, not sure the exact amount but believe those who had been vaccinated recovered quicker then those that had not been vaccinated with the Flu and Pneumonia shots, that said, they are also both respiratory diseases as is Covid 19.

Regardless of what goes on outside, keep up with the rules, i.e. wear a mask, social distance, wash hands regularly and keep your ears to the ground for vaccinations being made available to farangs via the the government and or private hospitals as I strongly believe it is going to get worse this side of the world with more new variants entering Thailand, and of course, more lethal, so again, my suggestion would be to get the above two shots, and I am not suggestion that they will provide you with protection against Covid 19, but from the research I have read on studies with the links which I have posted here many times before it is suggested that they do as they are also respiratory diseases and some immunity may be provided, but do your own research to satisfy your curiosity.

 

Adding to the above, you can also try getting some sun, and taking vitamin D, C, Zinc, Magnesium, eat a health diet and do some exercise if not to old.

I was explained the criteria is either >60 or serious diseases for eligability.

 

As far as the assessment, for Thais, it seems taht is the reason that they need to disclose their medical history to the government. For foreigners, your guess is as good as mine...

For Thai, maybe they have a medical history on their hospital computers but not for most foreigners.

 

So how do they know that the foreigner is telling the truth? I doubt they will spend so much time and money to assess their health for free.
