Police chief pays poor woman's 1,000 baht mask fine

Sanook reported that the case of a woman who got into a furious row in the street over not wearing a face mask had ended happily.

 

Earlier Ging, 36, had arrived to buy food in the area of Don Phrom market on the Bang Kruay to Sai Noi Road in Nonthaburi.

 

She was riding a bicycle with a boy and girl also on the vehicle. 

 

She had a slanging match with a fruit seller who told her to wear a mask. 

 

There was some fruity language and some face pointing. 

 

Bang Yai police called Ging in and she was taken to court where she was fined 1,000 baht for not wearing a mask contrary to the regulations. 

 

She said she had no money so Bang Yai station chief Pol Col Pheeradech Charoendech gave her the money and the court let her go free.

I predict these sorts of stories will replace the "taxi driver finds 100k baht left by passenger and returns the money" sort of fluff. Heck, the other day I saw cops roll up in Jomtien and they weren't wearing masks until the got out
