The drop of 16 was the number of patients on ventilators.

 

The drop in critical condition patients for the latest day was 76, which was more than double the number of new deaths.

The UK only started mass testing after the morgues were overflowing.

 

Thailand was testing and identifying cases of covid before the UK in January 2020. 

Boris handed even started shaking everyone's hand until March.

 

I am happy it looks like the UK have finally got their act together but it doesn't help the 130,000 already dead in the UK or the million plus dead from the UK strain worldwide.

The Transport Ministry will use Bang Sue Central Railway Station, covering 13,500 square metres, for walk-in vaccinations of people in Bangkok and surrounding provinces next month.

Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob said the venue is being turned into a COVID-19 vaccine station, with the aim of administering 10,000 doses per day. The station will be opened for walk-in vaccinations on June 1st. The Public Health Ministry will provide the vaccine supplies, while the State Railway of Thailand will look after area management and transport.

He added that the station will open from May 24th to 31st exclusively for workers in the public transport sector. Taxi-motorcyclists and drivers of public buses, electric trains and boats can receive their shots during this period.

all in all, I have a suspicion that the authorities would like to boast about the top line number of how many people have been vaccinated. For that age and health risk is of no importance whatsoever.

There are 13 million + people in Thailand over 60. They claim that 2.2 million people of all ages have been vaccinated to date so clearly as I said they are of no importance to the government as they would or should have insured that as a minimum 70% of the over 60s be vaccinated first

It is also the same country whose then deputy health minister stated in Feb 2020 that we did NOT need to test test test because we were a 1st world country. Oh and by the way let the Cheltenham races go ahead in March because there is no danger. Thankfully the misjudgement was eventually corrected, albeit a little late for many, and the UK is where it is today.

If it follows the same pattern as India, it will spread from Bangkok to the countryside with cases falling in Bangkok and growing in other regions and the countryside.  But let's hope it doesn't.

Agree. Let's hope they actually put all the numbers together from all of the days and from all the jails and don't somehow forget a few a thousand or 10. One still wonders how many never made the numbers before the cover up (and that's what is was) was exposed. How many pnuemonia deaths in prisons in the last year. That would be a great figure to see but probably can't. Eventually you would hope the all the lies will be exposed but with this country's history of military govts and coups I doubt it very much.

By the way Thailand came in number 8 in the world with new infections on yesterday's covid worldometer. I really, really want some one to defend this and say Thailand is doing a great job.

Bangkok's daily new COVID case numbers for the past week. The first number in the series at far left shows Bangkok's total COVID cases from May 1-11... Then the daily numbers for May 12-18. Then lastly the total number of Bangkok cases since April 1. Today's new cases tally was less than half of yesterday's record 1,843 number for some unspecified reason.

Exactly lets hope not, the only way to avoid it is through effective testing. So far in this wave there are a total of 84,294 people infected. Of those 28,258 were in Bangkok the rest 55,636 have been in the Provinces although numbers in Provinces have been reducing

I think that is limited to the real "hot spots".  In most of the country they are only registering the over elderly and high risk.

 

Where there is an uncontrolled outbreak, like there is in the Bangkok slums, going in with mass vaccination for everyone is the only recourse.  But these are specific places. They did the same before in Samut Sakhon.

Although reported COVID cases haven't been increasing in the outlying provinces, today's update was interesting in that it showed new COVID deaths in 17 different provinces out of 77 total, which AFAIK is either the broadest or one of the broadest geographic death tolls Thailand has seen thus far from the pandemic.

 

It's not been uncommon for Bangkok to represent half or more of the daily COVID fatalities being reported, and usually one or two each from a handful of other provinces. But in today's numbers, besides Bangkok, there were three other provinces with two fatalities each and then 13 other provinces with one each.

 

Yesterday in comparison, Bangkok accounted for 18 of the 25 new deaths, with seven other provinces each reporting one.

 

 

Let's hope today was not the beginning of a trend in that regard.
