Phuket marks zero new daily infections

Featured Replies

The way the Thai media report the pandemic does my head in. This headline implies a "victory". The reality that even I tend to forget is: 1. Covid is forever, its not going away, ever. It is in the world now like every other virus thats in the world. Even Smallpox lives in a freezer someplace. 2. Only vax up to herd immunity will allow normal life to go on. 3. Most people recover. 4. Lockdowns are necessary, or you get India, whether you believe it or not. and the economy is going to be trashed anyway, lockdown or not.  5.  You will get Covid 100% whether youre vaccinated or not, so will I. It's just a race against time as to whether a vaccine will help your recovery, or you do it on your own steam, but you me, and every human you know, will get covid, eventually. 6. Did I mention it is here forever? Stay as safe as possible until the jab, and dont worry, youll also 100% be dead someday too.

  • Great news, shows if we are diligent we can beat this B117 English strain.   I hope the rest of the country learns from Phuket and things can finally start getting back to normal again.

I take the news with a grain of salt. A coworker's wife is a nurse at a local hi-so hospital. The covid ward is full. Of course, I hope the news is real

A friend of friend? Unfortunately on an anonymous forum this means absolutely nothing. ????

I assume zero for second day...nothing listed for Phuket in today's case count:

Right about what? You're the one claiming no testing is being done, I am asking you to let us know how you know, all you show is number of infections. I am not claiming extensive testing is being done, just asking you to justify your claim, which you clearly can not.

and I am asking you to prove that it otherwise than I claim

Not sure what is such a big deal about zero cases, if you guys lived here and read the news we had zero cases here in Phuket and many other provinces for many months last year, even with little restrictions in place....!!!

If you lockdown hard there will be few or zero cases, open up, get more cases..., here it is, and I'm a rocket scientist...! ????

Open July or even before, will have cases going up again..., there is a balance to be had with moderate and reasonable restriction and R numbers, this way life can go on and Covid under some control, something here they don't understand....., so aiming for all this zero cases fanfair and the usual yoyo events with lockdown etc. ....

Any correlation between zero Covid cases and desperate desire to open Phuket in July???? I’m sure it just a coincidence????

So you make a claim, I ask you to proof your claim or at least show some sort of indication your claim could be true, and now you want me to disproof you.

Sorry mate, honest discussions don't work that way.

No, clearly not.

As always, the key word is "reported" cases......The danger being in the fanfare presentation of 0 cases leading Phuket to believe that they are now covid free.

He is right, maybe your new to forums but it's up to you to provide proof to back your argument. Just saying it without proof means absolutely nothing and in fact will damage your credibility if you don't have substance to your posts.

It is impossible to prove that they did some testing or not. I think if you follow the news on Covid for more than a year now you should know. Nowhere there are numbers of testing and how many of these tests are positive. So how I can I prove it??? On the other if you tell me there was testing, than you can show me the number of tests and that is for him impossible too. The only thing that is for sure is that the Governor of Phuket and the Government will do everything to show that Phuket can open for tourists on the 1st of July.  In the meantime here in Phetchaburi there were yesterday 1300 positive cases out of 3000 tests in a factory, but today on tv they only said there were 682... But we are not Phuket....

Nobody can prove or disprove. So if I say the numbers are wrong they are much higher then its up to me to back that allegation with proof.

Best just to say "in my opinion" that way nobody really cares to much.

This is not what the NNT- National News Bureau of Thailand (NBT World) reported on their facebook page 3 hours earlier in the day. Who's correct?

It depends on who you want to be correct, or even care about the truth.

As you now admit your claim can not be confirmed. So stay away from claiming no testing is done.
