webfact
REUTERS FILE PHOTO for reference only Thailand on Friday (May 21) reported 3,481 new COVID-19 cases and 32 more deaths. ● 2,530 new infections ● 951 prison / prison infections Friday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 123,066 with 735 deaths. The news comes as the govt has replaced its "walk-in" COVID-19 inoculation program with 'on-site”, to avoid misunderstandings that vaccines can be administered right away on the same day. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-05-21 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates
Popular Post TallGuyJohninBKK
The 3,481 new COVID cases and 32 additional deaths reported by the Thai government on Friday mark the third highest totals of each since the start of the pandemic, bringing the nation’s official COVID case count to 123,066. The 3,481 new case tally had been exceeded only by the 9,635 and 4,887 daily cases reached on May 17 and May 13, respectively. The 32 new deaths ties for the third highest daily total, exceeded only by 35 and 34 daily deaths reached on May 18 and May 12, respectively. Even subtracting the 951 new prison cases reported Friday, the 2,530 new general population cases subtotal marked the third consecutive day of increases and also was the third highest total ever. The only higher general population totals have been 2,839 on April 24 and 2,782 on May 17. The 951 new prison COVID cases reported Friday brought the nation’s total of prison cases to 14,548, with new prison cases reported on eight of the past nine days. Thai corrections officials are scrambling to both test all inmates in the sprawling prison system and begin vaccinating inmates. The government also reported 2,868 recovered COVID patients had been released from hospital facilities of various types (hospitals, field hospitals and hotel hospitals) after being found no longer contagious. But because Friday’s total 3,481 new case count is larger, the total hospitalized population will again increase. The total hospitalized COVID population rose from 42,246 to 42,827 on Friday, with the government reporting a pandemic record 1,248 COVID patients listed in critical condition, up 35 from the prior day. The portion of those needing ventilators to breathe rose by three to 408, as shown in the light blue box below. 7

Popular Post dinsdale
Looks like the cluster numbers might be coming in but still hovering in the 2000's. These numbers should see Thailand at number 90 on the covid chart and fairly soon will crack the top 20 in weekly trends. TallGuyJohninBKK
Thailand's rolling seven-day average of new COVID cases has set another new record of 4,006 cases per day through the latest data update as of May 19. The rolling seven-day average of daily COVID deaths declined slightly during the same period to just over 27 per day. Public health officials often use the trends of the rolling seven-day averages of new COVID cases and deaths to gauge how they are faring with the pandemic. https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus/country/thailand?country=~THA#what-is-the-daily-number-of-confirmed-cases

Ventenio
in my opinion, people only sort-of care about 2000 to 3000. 2000/70000000 just isn't making everyone wear masks. Every day I see 40 people half wearing them or not wearing them....... 2000 seems like the new normal. i'm not in a deep red zone............ get the jab.....save a life. and give each kid you see 1000 Thai you stingy falangs!!! lol

Explain how it distorts the stats. Asymptomatics can infect others and some of those will become symptomatic and possibly die. Asymptomatic people also suffer other medical conditions unbeknownst to them until later on. Edited May 21, 2021 by ThailandRyan 8

Only around 30% are asymptomatic, the rest are pre symptomatic. It is these groups that drives the spread of the virus silently. They cannot be detected via temperature screening controls and mix with the community normally. Edited May 21, 2021 by Bkk Brian 1

I'm not sure if you realize but if a person is asymptonatic with covid-19 they obvioulsly have covid-19 and therefore returned a positive covid-19 result and therefore are part of the covid-19 positive infections stats. Maybe you see this differently.
