Anyone have one ?

What mods have you done or are planning, if any?

I'm getting mine soon.

I will see how I like it first, but a ECU tune from a well known  shop in Bkk will take it from app 380Hk / 500 Nm to 420 Hk / 590 Nm - which should do I think.

What does BMW do when they see you've chipped a new engine. ?

I'd go with a cold air intake, an exhaust system and a piggyback ECU mod, perhaps a JB4. The new Bosch BMW ECU's are locked and not currently tunable as far as I know.

Why would you chip this brilliant engine?

More power than ever needed.

And where would you drive quicker or accelerate quicker.

Speed limit 120 and many crazy drivers on the road.

You've plenty of bum.

I like power for quick safe overtaking as long as it's not use to take chances.

As you say one of the best engines in the world with bi-turbo plenty powerful enough already.

Your M340i will have plenty of that!

We have a Z4 with the same engine and a C43 with a similarly powered V6.

The C43 is way more refined than the Z4, which is grunty and twitchy!  But that's RWD - I think yours is AWD - so you might not have the twitchyness of the Z4 - but the noise and performance is a lot of fun. Has to be said BMWs gear change timings are way better than the C43.

But I still love my C43, in case she's reading.

Get past your 1000km run in - then toe it a bit - and pics if you pimp it up a bit.

I'm planning to get myself a set of wheels in Europe.

The 840i or maybe 850i

Will leave it with family for my 3 monthly visits.

Maybe starting next year.

I'm not OP ???? I was just commenting on acceleration and the power of that car is good in Thailand for safe overtaking on some roads here as long as you don't get too overconfident.

Myself I just have my bike for speed in Thailand 1/4 mile in 10.4.

My son luv's his M140i in UK but will not be buying another car there with the up and coming 2030 UK plans.

Yes that's also down the lines of my thinking.

I saw a youtube video of a guy that changed the down pipe to one without cats. and a ECU remap and he got almost 500 Hp and 650Nm with these few mods

That is always up for debate, but on the other side there are also a lot of charm to an unmolested car like this, especially if a resale is coming up

As i haven't tried it yet I don't know if it satisfy me, I will see,

Looking at numbers by itself is is tempting to boost it as it doesn't take a lot for this model to come close to M3 performance

They immediately invalidate any warranty.

Yeah so that's what I thought, I wouldn't worry about it but many owners would I guess.

I am in the same position with my A200, I am tempted to get the Racechip GTS to take the power up to a claimed 202bhp.

If you flash the ECU, warranty is gone, if you piggyback you can remove but you will have to remove it every time you take it for servicing etc. to go undiscovered lol.

Racechip is a piggyback.

I would suggest the M340i does not need the additional power with what it already delivers though.

I don't agree with all this engine upgrading.

In case there is an accident be assured, the insurer will find out and they will let you dry.

If you are guilty, you have a big problem.

If I want more power, I save up and buy the more powerful car.

Same with women, I don't like fake .....
