Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha receiving his second AstraZeneca jab – Thaikufah Facebook page

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is promoting public confidence in the Sinovac and AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines, the two brands currently being administered in Thailand.

While receiving his second dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine today (Monday) he said “I’m here to take the jab because I have confidence in the vaccine’s efficacy and safety. There may be some side effects, but they aren’t fatal”. The prime minister received the jab at Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute in Nonthaburi province. He received his first dose on March 16th.

“Everyone needs to listen to the doctors as well, including what to do before vaccination. You need to have enough sleep, and wait to see if there are any symptoms after the jab,” he added.

...then after the 2nd jab our beloved leader Prayuth was shocked to read the study saying that against the locally newly popping up South-African strain  AZ said to be only 10% efficient.

Living happily ever after...or not....

You couldn't chose a worse ambassador to promote something with the word ''confidence'' in it

Is it true that the UK and USA will not accept Sinovac as a Vaccine  and that it will not be accepted as a vaccine  to enter those countries?  If thats true what does it actually  suggest about this vaccine?

By now surely everybody knows that's an out and out lie.

Why not tell the truth? Why not explain the side effects and risks clearly, provide stats of those and the number of fatalities that have been reported after taking the vaccines? That would allow people to make up their own minds whether or not to take the risks.

I am unaware of any fatalities from the 3 million vaccinations in Thailand.

Initially, the UK said that the second jab should be done 3 weeks after the first. Then there was a change of plan and the idea was to get as many 1st jabs as possible so the 2nd jab was delayed to 11 weeks. My first was done 4th March, the second 21st May. Anyway, the plan changed again about 2 weeks ago and the second jab is now done 8 weeks after the first, to get those 40+ fully protected as quickly as possible. First jabs are now being offered to 31 and 32 year olds.

It sounds a bit chaotic but the fact is that 4 months ago there were over 60000 new infections per day and now the figure is around 2000/day (lower than Thailand) and the country has opened up again. As of yesterday 56.8% of the country has had at least 1 dose, somewhat higher than many other countries.
