Popular Post DirtyHarry55
So is Chinese government not happy with the way Thailand is handling vaccinations? Had the Thai government taken care of Vaccinations the Embassy wouldn't need to vaccinate its people. It's not the responsibility of any Embassy to vaccinate it's citizens the fact that China does is big face loss for Thailand.

Actually this is a worldwide Chinese program. The Chinese government is vaccinating all Chinese all over the world. Hats off to them. The question is why Vimut? My understanding from a source that cannot be named here that the Thai Government chose Vimut and the real number of vaccines donated was 500k of which 100k had to be given to Chinese nationals only. 4

I think that's the whole point of the operation. I read something recently that suggested all vaccines will be purchased by private hospitals through the government and only the government and nothing else will be allowed. Thailand are dancing to the tune of the Chinese here and the Chinese are clearly calling the shots.
MasterBaker
i bet Chinese Embassy made a deal while donating Sinovac to Thailand, other embassies are bonded by the local regulations. Ask your ambassador if he is vaccinated in Thailand 1
natway09
It does show that where there is a will there is a way. I doubt the Chinese government is vaccinating or being allowed to vaccinate their Nationals in 1st World countries. But if they want to give some Sino Vaccine's to their peoples in UK, Europe or USA why not. The fact they have to do it here means Thailand is slacking I'm sure even the Chinese would prefer a Psizer to a Sinovac. I thought it was 150,000 Chinese national at 2 doses each = 300,000 doses. So 200,000 doses " Donated with conditions" to vaccinate healthy Chinese nationals first, before the sick and elderly, and secure the export permit for the 3 Million doses (Price?) that will arrive through June and was announced the day after this "Donation" was approved by Thailand. So 200,000 x 65 baht (dose)=13 Million baht. How much have the US and Australia donated to Thailand? 3

I too heard that part of the deal for receiving the initial doses of the Sinovac vaccine was to treat Chinese as Thais in the queue. Or it seems now to be 'ahead of many Thais'. And, if you want to go back to China, you have to have had two doses of the Sinovac vaccine. No others are acceptable. Someone at Vimut told a farang interested in registering there that they've be using the AZ vaccine for farangs... if that facility actually ends up doing anything for us. I did their online pre-registration on Sunday (the 2nd day they opened), and now Thursday has passed and no promised SMS communication from them. Hmmm...... They don’t need to. Developed nation countries are vaccinating everyone with equality. Chinese nationals in the UK are being vaccinated along side British Nationals. Thai friends in the US and the UK have already been vaccinated. Our home nations could be lobbying to ensure that we (foreigners) are vaccinated along side Thai’s. I’d wager a good guess that such lobbying has taken place, but our Embassies cannot be seen to ‘buy their way’ into getting its nationals vaccinated ahead of Thai’s, the optics are terrible. China seems to have a way of getting what they want and everyone just going along with it. I am registered for a vaccine in 10 days - it will be interesting to see if I walk into the hospital and receive a vaccination or if I am laughed at and told ’Thai’s only’ !!!...

N Nevertheless, they were given Sinovac, the official Red Badge of Courage. Still, it is reasonable to expect other countries to offer the same service, but with a real vaccine, to their own expats in Thailand, most especially under the present woeful inaction by Thailand. There is precedence for the US embassy to do so in fact. Admittedly that was in the days when the US embassy cared about expats.
sqwakvfr
I wonder what Chinese Nationals in the USA are doing? Free Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J at your local Pharmacy?
