June 7 review of country colour zones .. for those of us travellingto UK later in month  the prospect of Thailand going red would mean either 2000£ in gov quarantine or cancel the flight

Don't airlines still have change date no charge? Qatar did

Yeah I know but its fact stuck or pay 2000..not much of a choice

Can also stop off in an amber, or preferably green, country enroute for 10/11 days to bypass the paid quarantine.

Thats not good ..more expense

If I was a betting man I would back Thailand will go red. With vax roll out a shambles how could it not?

UK blocked from the rest of EU, with new quarantine measures to be announced today or tomorrow

I wonder what the UK's criteria is for determining whether a country is green, amber or red.  I mean, if they do it by active cases per capita, Thailand's case count is still quite low, and lower in fact than some of the countries on their "green" list.

I think it would be surprising for the UK to change Thailand from amber to red over the next month, but the policies of all nations right now makes no sense so I guess anything is possible.

I recall cases as you say, but also vaccination rates, ability to sequence for genomes and spread of different variants.  Not sure how much weight each of these carry in the overall decision.

At least you're not locked up or isolated.  That's more important for me although YMMV.
