The company where I work started using electronic tax submissions for employees, which is a new e-filing system introduced this year by the revenue office.

However, we discovered this week while trying to renew my B visa that Immigration simply don’t recognize the revenue office’s new system.

As the PND1 tax submissions are required by immigration to prove that the company has the correct number of Thai staff and has been paying tax for them, there’s now no  evidence of this as Immigration don’t accept the new e-filing system. So they can’t grant me the B visa.

With both sides, the government revenue office and immigration, saying it’s not their responsibility, we’re possibly at a dead end.

Can anybody suggest alternatives to a B visa for remaining in Thailand during this current situation?

My B visa expires on June 18 so there’s still time but it’s running out and I’m worrying about what will happen.

I assume you are trying to apply for a 1 year extension of stay based upon working. A non-b visa cannot be renewed.

It seems the revenue department needs to get involved to inform immigration about the new way they do it.

Which immigration office are you trying to apply at.

Chang Wattana in Bangkok.

That’s the problem... the revenue office follow their procedure. It’s not the normal process for them to write letters supporting visa applications.

I would think they would be aware of the new system since they probable process more extensions based upon working than other offices.

No, they are not aware and they certainly don't accept it. Two + days at Chang Wattana have confirmed that.

The e-filing for withholding tax was only recently introduced. Ironic that one of the basic points of it was to make the whole process easier has completely failed.

Probably some consultant thought it's more efficient and fewer mistakes will happen.

But then the people who work there decided that this robs them of the opportunity to ask for a donation for more efficiency and it does not allow them anymore to make "mistakes". TiT

The announcement was published in the Royal Gazette in June 2020 and the Revenue Office actually published a fact sheet showing the e-system would connect with immigration seamlessly, which I have attached here.

It just beggars belief that immigration officers are clueless about it.

Offering a donation to make things easier has been suggested as a last resort.

I think that is probably a wrong assumption.

I think it's similar to thinking the Thai police has no clue. In my experience they know a lot about what is going on. But if they want to admit that and act according to that is a completely different matter.

Think you may be right there!

If I understand correctly, when I recently had a similar issue, my agent requested that my accountants get paper receipts of those e-filings from the revenue department, which were then submitted to immigration. So it may be possible to request paper receipts of those payments.

Yes, that's right. Immigration have requested that the paper receipts are certified.
