When does your current permission of stay end?

Which is your local Immigration office?

Although you need at least 15 days permission of stay remaining to apply for the Non O, the odd rouge IO require 23 days remaining.

My extension ends on July 12.

Obtain covid extension prior that stamp will give you permission of stay till Sept 12.

If your plane departure is later than Sept 12, you will repeat and obtain another covid extension.

Yes currently can only apply for them prior to end of July but that will be extended. imo

they made my wife sign every page, she only come along for the ride didn't think  the covid extension was anything to do with her, good job she did

I'm not sure what/why wife had to sign.

I'm aware of the extra pages such as "your aware of overstay rules" etc.

BTW that was very rude for io to say that you just wanted to stay with her.

Has zero to do with your covid extension.

Did you provide TM30.

One of the experts might have an insight into what wife signed. All I can think of is your address..

As per @DrJack54 post above for the 60 day Covid extensions.

Applying for a Non O as a prelude to a 1 year extension would be very tight timewise.

Procedure for VE to Non O here: VE-TV to Non O retirement.pdf

The Non O would grant a further 90 days, valid from July 12th - Oct 9th.

It entails 2 visits to your Immigration office 14 days apart.

To apply for the 1 year extension based on retirement you must have 800K in a Thai bank account for 2 months prior to the date of application. (1,900 baht)

Applications can be submitted up to 30/45 days in advance dependant on office (Sept 1st -Sept 10th). It's granted and issued on the day of application.

The extension would start from Oct 9th 2021 until Oct 9th 2022.

If you purchase a single re-entry permit (1,000 baht) this will allows you to re-enter Thailand again t any time before Oct 9th 2022 and be granted permission of stay until that date.

To renew the following year you must be in Thailand before the end of it's validity.

You must keep the 800K in the bank for 3 months after the extension is granted, then you can withdraw up to 400K before bring the balance to 800K again 2 months before your next application.

Cheers jack, I will be taking your advice, another thing,  I had to fill 4 pages of details in, more than when I'd got my 60 day extension due to my non o, I've seen the template on here and that was one of the pages plus another 3 others,,  they made my wife sign every page, she only come along for the ride didn't think  the covid extension was anything to do with her, good job she did. One of the officers said to her am I just doing this because I want to stay longer with her.

Sounds as though they granted you a 60 day extension to 'visit Thai wife' rather than the 60 day Covid extension. Your wife would need to sign the documents in that case.

How long do you intend staying in Thailand for?

My plan is to apply for a 60 day Covid extension in early July. Once I have that in hand, then I would begin work on a retirement visa that would be effective on my return from a required trip to the USA (probably return to Thailand in October).

The only thing you could do is apply for the 90 day non-o visa before leaving and then get a re-entry permit to keep the remainder of the 90 day valid when you enter the country. You will have to apply for it early enough for it be issued so you can get the re-entry permit.

I've Already had a 60 day extension due to being married and I asked the lady on the desk for the covid extension, it was definitely that. While the UK are still insisting on the quarentine on arrival il be staying here if I can till they stop that.

Your allowed one 60 day extension per entry for reason of being married to a Thai.

Shame you used that already.

Had you been extending purely based on Covid extensions, when they eventually stop, you could have still played the 'visiting Thai wife' card and stayed for a further 60 days beyond those on Covid extensions.

Yep, pre PCR test, pre booking 2 tests and a Passenger locator form, but at least no Covid Insurance required and only 10 days quarantine at home returning to the UK, providing you don't travel through or from a 'red' listed Country.

Lets hope the UK don't put Thailand on the 'red' list, as the Labour party has suggested.

Regarding the 10 days quarentine, is it true after 5 days you can take another test at a outside clinic and if negative can leave the house straight away?

Yes.

Entering the UK: Ending quarantine early through Test to Release - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

You cannot use the early test to release if you travelled through or from a 'red' listed Country though.

More info here:

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Test to Release for international travel - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

My required return to the US has been postponed again - now my potential return is in October. So, I have a 30 day extension ending July 12, and I will go for a Covid 60 day extension.

So, I might try for the O Retirement visa immediately after July 12.
