Not good, but you would think a couple of Billionaires in this part of the world could hire a bodyguard or two.
Given the average salary in Thailand they could easily have a small team of them .

True....but bodyguards seem to have a tendency to end up extorting and/or killing their employers!!!!!!!!

Fact tracker: CCTV surrveilance cameras do not work on Koh Tao.
Might be a convenient technical glitch on the island.

I think in the Burmese two case they worked at first then when needed they had not worked, probably be the same with these two latest drownings CCTV always seem to be a problem on Koh Tao, strangs that (sarc.) neveless RIP the two deceased!

They were/are billionaires once plod found that out they will be looking for an angle to justify looking into their finances, then there will be some new Mercedes on order perhaps a few apartments for some lucky Mia noi.

Bloody hell how difficult is it to either commit to foul play or an accident?

Is the son the sole beneficiary?

Why always so much fast conclusions:

A. CCTV did not work? Such a surprise that in Thailand (or anywhere else) something doesn't work? BTW, there are surely not many professionals on a small island who can fix it...

Once my wife left her wallet on a counter at 7-11 shop, what a surprise the CCTV did not work...

B. People drowning at river or in ocean, somebody comes to help, will drown either...

Some claims, yes, it happens many times but it cannot happen in a pool...

Why not? Look on the first picture where we see the slope in the pool floor. When the one (not a good swimmer) happily walking, suddenly stepped further deeper and starting to drown, the other one (not a good swimmer) runs to help him and is pulled down under the water.  It's very well known fact that people who start to drown are crazy and dangerous to the helpers...

Condolences for the family.

Aside from a crime, it may also be possible for a suicide.

Times are bad for everyone.

Guess that old saying " A troubled shared is a trouble doubled" could be true then ????????

As ever with these sort of deaths, the local police make over hasty press announcements - that actually reduce public confidence in their ability to handle the matter.

Statements are issued without any evidence or even the possibility there could be any evidence to support them. It just gives the impression that their primary concern is to make the matter go away.

What needs to be seen is a PROPER police investigation. A closed scene and thorough  and meticulous procedure.

...and until then we get the TV amateur Sherlocks

Posted

Definitely not a coincedence ...

1.  No witnesses ...

2. No pool attendant was present ...

3. The CCTV circuit was off ...

Three clues prove it ...

First bit boring...second bit...yes please.

He has a heart attack in the pool, she jumps into save him....manages to get up the ladders onto the poolside, but falls back exhausted and then drowns.

Coincidences can happen. Some 20 years ago there was also a glitch at local CCTV - and few more problems - when an aircraft landed at Pentagon...

Two very rich people drowned, no witnesses, no staff present or pool attendants? Son gone for a walk? CCTV not working? Koh Tao?

We should ask the Romans for their sage advice!

Lucius Cassius, whom the Roman people used to regard as a most honest and most wise judge, was in the habit of asking time and again in lawsuits: "to whom might it be for a benefit?"

It could possibly have been an electrical problem, I don't think drowning to be honest in a relatively small hotel pool.

Two smart intelligent people are hardly going to jump in the pool as non swimmers, and if you was to enter the water, you would check and know the depths! Why? I am a swimmer and I always do, it's common sense.

The only thing that proves is T.I.T.

I think an autopsy would be a good place to start before all the speculation. Amazing Thailand. Amazing how quickly they send in the special squad. Do think it might be something to do with them being billionaires?

What would be the likelihood of a double drowning in a placid pool setting? More chance of winning the lottery without buying a ticket

The body in the pic appears to be male and  have jeans on.

Hardly good swimming attire.

Wet jeans are well known to at least hasten drowning.

Has anyone read that Papa was a adequate swimmer or not ?

If Mumma fell in , and she also had voluminous clothing , a Sari for example  , it is possible that Pappa went to her aid and they both drowned.

Drowning is what the investigators assume.

And the coroner confirms.

And any sort of struggle , electrocution etc , would leave tell tale signs.

Sure , assailants  could have  held  them under , but any attackers would bring 4 burly men to ensure the result.

Unless they KNEW the billionaires were totally incapable in the water.

And thats a lot of people not to have been noticed....

My guess is thats what they will find , no other logical reason , if not killed and drowning two people is not an easy method to kill someone

So why was there no comment about the rescuers being shocked when removing the bodies from the pool?

It's really amazing how many people die accidentally or otherwise on Koh Tao, when there are no witnesses or there is no CCTV. Beyond belief!

Koh Tao is a genuine HUB of RTP Trust and Confidence and Respect.

Isn't Koh tao the place where the British couple died and they blamed it on Burmese?

Number two, is Koh tao open for tourism, or just wealthy people?

Seems like it opened to murderers also, in fact possibly Thailand's hub of them ????

Multiple drownings happen in  oceans rivers lakes where one or more people are in trouble not swimming pools....

Untrue - in fact I can recall a couple of cases just in recent years with British holidaymakers.

Here's just one example:

3 members of British family die in swimming pool tragedy

"The incident occurred after the girl got into difficulties in the water and her brother and father tried to rescue her, it has been reported."

Yes, plus 5 other recent suspicious deaths prior to this case.

Possibly most suspicious; Dimitri Povse who according to Koh Tao Police, committed suicide by tying his hands behind his back and then hanging himself.
