Looks like the recurring 2,000+ localized cases is continuing in it's "How long is a piece of string" trend.  Its very disturbing to also see the walk in cases and the lack of actual testing outside o

The only dose you are likely to get in Thailand is of the clap.

  • Some may say deaths have gone down others may say the goalposts have been moved i.e. classification of what is deemed a death from covid-19 has been changed. Being that there was suddenly an almost 50

Of the 3,000 new cases that were found in the past 24 hours:

- 1,814 were found at medical facilities

- 541 via pro-active tests at known clusters

- 640 via pro-active tests at prisons

- 5 imported cases

So basically no outward testing within communities on the outside of those with clusters unless they were acquainted with a walk in case.  Well that should tell us all what is really occurring, don's go to a hospital, don't test, and this will just stay alive as it skulks around the country.  Guess it could be worse, no vaccinations happening, oh wait the vaccinations are few and far between...????‍♂️

You've just about hit it there.

1,814 via hospital walk ins, thats the highest number since the 22nd May. Active testing also down. There is a serious disconnect between the testing and the real situation on the ground, its almost like they've put testing on the back burner as they're to busy dealing with the chaotic vaccine shambles.

Either way the virus is rampant with over 11% positivity in Bangkok and that says it all. Its not getting better and the Delta variant is snaking its way in.

And yet Bangkok has relaxed more of the restrictions from today (parks, massage & tattoo parlours, beauty salons) and schools are set to re-open from 21 June?

Such is politics, the virus loves political decisions, it thrives on them

Yes, and this makes as much sense as opening up Phuket to no quarantine in 15 days. Money driven economy has been faltering and children's education has been suffering like we both have discussed before.  The GF's daughter was done with her on-line work today by 11 am....even has all of the worksheets completed that need to go back to the school to the teacher on Friday.

When you hear officials claim that 61% of people in Phuket are vaccinated, remind them that this is NOT fully vaccinated. Only 28.1% have had both jabs. Also, don’t forget they need to wait 2 weeks before its becomes effective. Somehow I don’t think they will reach 70% by 1 July.

Nevertheless, they'll still open on 01 July.

In a bid to prepare for the world opening up after Covid-19 has been defeated, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with two agencies to promote low-carbon tourism and build awareness on climate change

TAT signed the MoU with Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organisation (TGO) and Thai Ecotourism and Adventure Travel Association (TEATA) in a ceremony broadcast on the 7 Greens Facebook page on Monday.

TAT governor Yuthasak Supasorn said the aim is to build awareness among tourism operators to ensure the tourism industry can run in line with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic development model.

"We will also apply technology and innovations to tackle climate change and work on cutting down on greenhouse gases caused by tourism by at least 50 million tonnes,” he said.

No longer died from but died with. The UK started this way but changed and the death numbers were adjusted up.

The additional stress of Covid causes the deaths of those with co-morbidities.

Sans Covid most would still be alive, ergo Covid 19 is the cause of death.

Oh you think just an asylum, sorry but that's a little low on the rung. I think they escaped from the double padded crazy ward where there are straight jackets worn...

But Chonburi reported 2 deaths.  Maybe they're using the old method of counting.

What is the latest color zones? I am specifically asking for Chiang Mai.

The bad news is there doesn't seem to be an end in sight for this wave of 2000+ cases a day. It is becoming more likely that only vaccination can put an end to it, and that could take months at the current rate.

The good news is that the big numbers are confined to the Bangkok area.

But they wont be confined to Bkk if people are allowed to travel, aka  songkran, gvnmt needs to be firm, yes they will be unliked but they are used to that.

See from another news report on a site that cannot be quoted from, that more clusters been found, anyone who says that this is not spreading must be wearing rose tinted glasses. I saw an interview with a virologist in Malaysia about situation there, he was advocating to increase mass testing to find cases, although it  would lead to an increase of reported cases, it would allow earlier intervention to take the infected out of the community and earlier intervention of those who were sick to provide better outcomes and reduce fatalities.

There are a lot of people thinking the same thing and unfortunately with the CCSA not declaring how exactly they classify covid deaths then all we can do is look at the numbers and do the calculations, the sharp decrease in numbers of deaths despite the same or higher number of covid cases is confusing to say the least especially when the CCSA made this statement a few days ago:

"Around two-thirds of Covid-19 patients possibly died due to non-communicable diseases and not Covid-19 itself"

Transparency is essential and they still have not learned this basic fact.

Transparency is essential.

And thats the reason for all the Smoke, Mirrors and outright BS.

The Authorities just dont want the real scale of the Outbreak to be widely known, as this will affect the opening of the Country to Tourists in a big way.

As I said many times over and for many many months, test more and en-mass.

Phuket marks four new COVID cases, as number of patients in care falls

Phuket Town - 76 (+2)

Rassada - 59 (+1)

Kathu - 51 (+1)

SILENCE ON DEATHS CONTINUES

Phuket officials have yet to comment publicly on the past three deaths attributed to COVID-19 on the island.

Phuket has suffered five deaths attributed to COVID-19 since Apr 3, most recently on Saturday (June 12) ‒ the fourth COVID death on the island in the past two weeks.

Of note, while the PR Phuket report marks that the target is for 466,587 people in Phuket to be vaccinated in order to achieve herd immunity by vaccinating 70% of the island’s full population, only 397,971 so far have registered to receive a state-provided vaccination under the national mass-vaccination campaign.
