Thailand’s Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) is aiming to administer about 10 million doses of AstraZeneca and Sinovac vaccines in July in provinces which have high infection rates and to complete full inoculation of at least 70% of the population of Phuket, which is set to be the first province to receive fully vaccinated tourists without quarantine from July 1st.

CCSA Spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin told the media today (Friday) that the CCSA also plans to acquire an additional 50 million doses of vaccine, including 28 million doses of Sinovac and 22 million doses of other makes, for next year, bringing the total of vaccine doses to be procured to 150 million.

He said that, under the revised allocation plan for July, Bangkok, which has had the highest daily infection rate for several consecutive weeks, will be allocated about 2.5 million doses.

Well 10 MM doses of AZ was/is the stated goal for July, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov (maybe 5 MM in Dec?).

But they're 2.5 MM in arrears: 3.5 MM (hopefully) in June from 6 MM promised.

Not sure they can make up the shortfall in Sinostuff?

Earlier yesterday, they had already achieved this goal.

Such a dysfunctional government (central & regional) and civil service in this country.

As for the rest, I will wait and see.

28 MM doses of Sinovac have been ordered for 2022.

Some folks are becoming unusually wealthy.

11 MM doses of Sinovac due over the next three months.

Suspect that you can get any vaccine you want here, as long as it is Sinovac.

Considering that Sinovac seems to be less effective against the Delta variant, buying even more of it next year doesn't sound like a good idea.

a.) that was for one dose

b.) population of Phuket adjusted downwards

Yes that % was for one dose.

So any ideas on % for complete vaccination (2 shots)?

I think I read very low percentage compared to the one shot group. ~ 30% ??

How many of that 10 million for July is AZ and how many the inferior Sinovac?  Not mentioned.  Why is it taking until next year to secure vaccines from other makers?  Not mentioned.   And, of that 50 million due next year, why is only 22 million of that from other makers and 28 million from the inferior Sinovac?    Not mentioned.

The more SinoVac they pump into Thai arms, the further Thailand will fall behind, when the Delta variant dominates.

The AZ offers reasonable defence against the Delta virus but Sinovac does not , so as you say what is the point of ordering sinovac . This is an ongoing dilemma because as the virus mutates new vaccines will need to be produced . Already the UK are preparing for a 3rd  reconfigured AZ booster jab this autumn . It will be manufactured in a new laboratory based in the Uk  and so free from any EU supply interference
