Personally, I think the new look is a massive improvement.  Much easier on the eyes.  Layout seems a lot better too.  More intuitive.  The old forum layout was a mess.  Well done AseanNow/ThaiVisa crew!

Don’t come on here spreading positive vibes. Do you know where you are?

Uninspiring name and I'm sure the non-Thai forums will remain largely empty. Expats in the Philippines and elsewhere have their own places to hang out.

  • I know it's 2021, and call me old fashioned, but showing a little respect to your members would have been appreciated.   Does this mean their will be an even bigger wumao presence on here no

Could I be the first person to announce I love China and sit for all it stands for. Long live China and Sinovac, the people's vaccine.

The type is too hard to read, please make it darker.

Looks like the smileys don't work as well! ????

Is there a dark mode available ?

If you use Chrome, there is a Dark Mode extension.

As always I can see a great respect for users on this website.

Any idea that you are living thanks to us ?

Any respectable company would share plans with users, so it's so clear that you are not !

EXACTLY !!!

But I guess that they just prefer to ban you for saying the truth, the boss is island hopping...

???? The smileys are there but the y size is set to 0 . You must resize. Some sizes cause further bugs !

Then when you save, the size goes back to 0....

OK, Thaivisa/Aseannow.   I fixed one, now you fix the font...

That will make no difference to Aseannow, whatsoever, you'll still be a member!

It actually makes no difference to anyone here.

Any one of us could croak tomorrow and hardly anyone would notice.

Although you say there will be no changes I would like to suggest one but it would entail a bit of honesty.  Every day, 2 -3 times a day, I get the ThaiVisa newsletter emailed to me and every day the first 3 or 4 supposed 'forum' posts are in fact adverts??  Why cant they be listed as adverts so they can be ignored?  They are adverts pure and simple and its very obvious because the author is always the ThaiVisa Sales Team!!  I know its only a small thing but outright dishonest really bugs me and shows ThaiVisa ( sorry Asean Now) has no credibilty.

Oh and I wonder will more adverts be jammed in here and there with the rebranding coz my poor Adblocker is overworked as it is with this site.  Unfortunately it doesnt work on the "Singaporians are dropping dead with surprise over this new toenail cleaner" type ads.  Surprised there are no Xray glasses ads too lol.

Yeah the font is unreadable on my phone. Please fix this. It's not good.

in their hurry to get out all the logins and passwords were lost ,oh great

why was themes taken away, it let posters change back to fonts they could actually read, so why was that a problem?

Mmm... thought my pc was playing up at first (bloody fonts faded???) scrolled to top of page and seen Aseannow?? <deleted>??? then read things had changed, well my penneies worth:

Dont like the logo

Dont like the name

Definatly dont like the faded font

Have no intrest in other asian countries myself just LOS

And Dont like idea that my digital info is now in hands of Chinese anything so looks like I be getting off

As menetioned the forum last year or two has more ads and is not as good as it use to be - Well Done Thai Visa, now wheres that shortcut for Thaiger again...

Why do I feel like aseannow sounds like a project from some Thai cabinet ? It's horrible !

(and you are losing big search keywords like Thai and visa in the domain.)

It wasnt a deliberate move, it is being addressed and hopefully things will be different on Monday.

So its not the domain registration company may be ? Nothing at all to do with the actual company possibly, its all just theories and speculation.

Finding the domain registration company for a website is a 10 second search. Finding and reading up on where Tessanet Limited (Hong Kong) is registered is more effort. After having done both, fact is that my profile information on this website including my email address now is visible to a government with non-existing respect for privacy, a very bad reputation when it comes to human rights, and known to bully in the dark.

The company owning the website must comply with court orders, or in the case of China, just requests for information, in both cases from the country where the company is registered = China. Where the servers are physically located is irrelevant.

I for one would have appreciated being told before the company email I used to use on TV was moved to a country with non-existing respect for privacy. I was just incredilbly lucky, I was retired and changed to a dummy email a while back.

Sorry Charlie, it is not theory and speculation. The multi national company I worked for until I retired is in process of moving its Asia HQ out of Hong Kong just for these reasons.

There's  no 'theme' button adjacent to the Contact us on the page I am looking at.

It was there whenen it was first mentioned in this topic and I changed to the alternative "theme" immediately but less than 24 hours later it was gone. I just hope that it was not removed deliberately to spite the readers of this forum. One can't help wondering sometimes, the way things have been going recently.

Can anyone point me to (a) the support forum? I want to report a possible fault and ask about changing the font top something more readable. And (b) the Thailand banking forum?

A moderator mentioned earlier in this topic that it is a "work in progress".

Suggestion: Let us all take a week off ASEAN NOW formerly known as Thaivisa. How many can manage it without suffering withdrawal symptoms?

Rebranding never seems to go well in Thailand, first Lotus’s now this.

Look forward to more news in the daily newsletters about Cambodia and Phillipines and Vietnam. I guess for SEO reasons they selected this website name Aseannow starting with the first letter of alphabet. Tfv was way to focused on thailand a place that totally lost its momentum.. for me personally one site about several countries that i often stay in makes perfectly sense.

Like every update on here not giving users a heads up. There is functionality to display a notice and, IMO, it would show respect to give notice in advance.

Fair enough...  It seems over 30 people agree with you (going by the likes to your comment)...

But, what difference would a heads up a notice in advance make to you ????

I may be missing something, but I just don’t get the disrespect part of it...

Now c'mon - do you really think they do things deliberately to spite members? I do think it would have been better if this change had been beta tested with select members, bugs like this font worked out, then announced in advance it was coming, but that was thoughtless at best. Not spiteful. And as much as I am paying for membership on this site, I have no right to bitch and whinge.

Really?!?!?! The impression I got in recent months is that the number of posters had dropped off and there was a distinct lack of fresh blood coming through. I could be wrong of course, but that is the impression I had.....that the forum was in a slow decline - which would be entirely consistent with Covid and reduced interest in Thailand generally as fewer expats move to Thailand and very few Westerners visit the country.

I  have absolute proof that many  of the forums that  used to  be quite active have now dwindled to  almost  nothing, partly  due to such a convoluted plethora of fora that some of them have now been bunkered in the lower strata and are hard to find, even for the former regulars.

This means of course a loss of advertising  revenue from  the former sponsors of those fora, and now TV has to increase its spread to  recover what  it  has lost. In  recent  years it's simply  become a vast vehicle anyway for earning   advertising revenue.  Most  of us run  an ad-blocker anyway.

Bring George back... ????

I don't care that they changed the name but what a stupid name!

The logo and the font are  pretty bad , too.

Ah, well.  What do I know.

I like the use of 'Asean', not sure about the 'now' bit................... The logo is excellent IMO.............................Most older people don't like change in general, hence alot of the negativity on here.........................
