Years ago I lived and worked in the Philippines.  For most of that time I lived in a bamboo house with a thatched roof (a nipa hut).  I'm living in a condo now in Samut Prakan and with my Thai daughter I have bought  a small property in Bangplee.  I would like to put up a small one room bamboo house there, just someplace I could go to for a few nights at a time to enjoy nature.....

Can anyone recommend how I could go about getting someone to build a simple one room bamboo hut for me?  I live on a budget so I have to keep my expenses down, but then, I only want something simple....

apparently no prefabricated houses on lazada.

probably will have to be made locally.

But there are bamboo huts prefabricated, so matter or searching the net. Force them to give you guarantee for minimum 5 years.

I have seen bamboo decorations getting already eaten by insects only after 6 months, so

the best would be to preserve bomboo by yourself, rather then relying on somebody, who doesn't have

a clue, want's to save money on chemicals, additional work and time.

Still, I would rather do the frame from a teak wood or cheaper rubber tree wood or any other hardwood.

That way structure will be stronger and you would need to replace rotting bamboo walls, rather than demolishing the whole structure.

I would also go for corrugated steel and insulated roof, rather than thatched. You can later cover roof with straw and put bamboo mats on inside for decoration and extra insulation.

I think I have stayed on chao samran beach at bamboo hut which had walls made from mats. There was even aircon.

Personally I wouldn't go for bamboo house

Everyone in every village will either build it for you or tell you who can.

If you have any ability at DIY you can easily do it yourself.
