PM

@prayutofficial

will reportedly consider more restrictions “similar to last year’s hard lockdown” that *could* include movement restrictions and a curfew amidst ever escalating #COVID19 infections in Friday’s

@oc_ccsa meeting.

UPDATE:

@thaimoph

is proposing movement restrictions, shelter-at-home and closing “non-essential” businesses to curb the escalating #COVID19 situation. The

@oc_ccsa , chaired by a quarantined-at-home PM

@prayutofficial , will make the final call as early as tomorrow

https://twitter.com/SaksithCNA/status/1412999257343156224

BREAKING: The Ministry of Public Health are proposing a “lockdown” similar to the restrictions we had in April 2020. You may be told to #StayHome and only leave for essential reasons such as to buy food, see a doctor or get vaccinated. The CCSA will meet soon to discuss this.

https://twitter.com/RichardBarrow/status/1413002155254980610

We only know that the proposed “lockdown” will be similar to what we had in April last year. Expect closure of non-essential businesses, a nightly curfew and a ban on interprovincial travel. This will most likely be for 2 weeks and in the high risk provinces and their neighbours.

WHAT hard lockdown last year? Bars and restaurants were closed and there was a curfew but other than that it was life as normal...could go anywhere, BTS was still busy, everyone was still working from the office.

Pattaya had a pretty hard lockdown, from what I saw in the media.

If I was the governor of Phuket. I would order barricades at the bridge today. Everyone will be thinking it's the safest place to be and will try to get in by whatever means necessary.
Same goes for all of the islands. Close down those ferries now.

From the total 7,058 cases that were found in the past 24 hours:

- 5,249 were found via tests at medical facilities

- 1,732 via proactive tests at known clusters

- 68 via proactive in prisons

- 9 imported cases

https://twitter.com/ThaiEnquirer/status/1413008430034415619

They squeezed out 5,249 hospital admissions.

4,900+ discharges from hospitals.

But the pro-active test numbers confound analysis, because some who test positive are admitted directly to an acute care facility.

Government not providing food for sealed construction worker sites causing mass desperation

Workers in lockdown are not being given food by the government as was promised causing a desperate situation in construction camps, volunteers told Thai Enquirer on Thursday.

“I have been to 11 camps and none of them are being helped,” said Neeraj Trirongaubon, the owner of Tum Tum Somtum Pattaya (Sathon branch) and a representative of a food donation network.

“They cannot work, they do not have money, so they cannot buy food. We need to help them,”

At the same time, migrant workers are not being tested for Covid at the two sites.

This is abdolutely appalling if true. This government is absolutely disgusting if they are promising to feed them and then do not (although no surprise).

I feel Thailand is well and truly on the precipice now.

I just hope this is over that the people will lift their head out of their phones and ENACT change...sadly though I very much doubt they will.

Jeez, headless chickens flapping about. Who just happen to be in charge of bringing this pandemic under control.

Its looking like the worst case scenario is heading our way, something we all warned about but all hoped would never happen. Its very sad.

MoPH graphic released Thursday shows the numbers of COVID patients currently hospitalized in critical condition, broken down by individual province. Twenty seven percent of those in critical condition (698 of 2,654) are requiring ventilators to breathe.

The graphic says Bangkok province currently has 313 COVID patients hospitalized in critical condition, almost six times the number of critical cases compared to the next province on the list.

The Chinese production capacity is massive. Sure we'd all prefer a western vaccine but as a circuit breaker you take what you can get.

AZ production is trending upwards as well.

Can you elaborate on “AZ production is trending upwards as well”?

Of course, take sinovac if it’s the only thing available, but if beating delta is the goal, the mRNA booster shot will help in achieving that. Poor planning got us to this particular spot, best plan for that mRNA booster if you want to move as far away as possible from the current predicament.

Still far from 100k new cases every day, or a total of 7 million covid-19 cases in Thailand or 99k deaths of/with covid-19. So everything Thailand does is un proportionally unless they have gotten to these numbera.

Better to open up the country, since people will go to Thailand even with 10 times more covid-19 in Thailand than with the ridiculous restrictions they have today.

Thailand really needs international help and advice on a major vaccine rollout program and the delivery of gold standard vaccines - but will never ask for it. in the meantime the economy will continue to plummet together with underlying confidence.

I think it’s been said  repeatedly that looking at daily numbers which are in and of themselves pretty suspect, doesn’t tell you much in isolation. But you keep on banging on about them everyday, even though the lack of hospital beds and new community care facilities have changed the back drop to the numbers considerably.

but if it keeps you happy, I guess, why not?

Why do I bother correcting the claims that Songkran travel caused many infections in Isaan, from the million people who left Bangkok for the holiday? Because misinformation can be deadly during an epidemic.

The same people who claim that Songkran caused a big spread in Isaan are now calling for a lockdown, fearing another big spread. But, the authorities know that there wasn't a big surge in infections in Isaan after Songkran.  Geez, I remember a day in May (or maybe it was in June, please don't post about the date) when there were only 32 cases in all of Isaan.

What is different now is the Delta variant, and yes, travel from Bangkok to anywhere could cause yet another surge. But, please stop with the false claims about Songkran, okay?

And please don't post that I am anti-lockdown. If you have to invent straw men to attack me, you have too much time on your hands.

Geez, I remember a day in May (or maybe it was in June, please don't post about the date) when there were only 32 cases in all of Isaan. “

Ok, May or June, got that. But is it 2020 or 2021?

FYI, these are the provinces that had Covid cases before Songkran.

Repeating that it was Songkran that spread the virus to Isaan is as crazy as some of the Deniers here.

The number of reported hospital walk-in cases is predictive of near term future case numbers. That will be true until hospital capacity is truly maxed out.

Man jumps to his death after suffering breathing problems from Covid-19

Police were alerted when a local spotted a body floating in the Chao Phraya River near the Phibul Songkram pier in Nonthaburi’s Suan Yai area on Wednesday evening.

The body was identified as that of 59-year-old Laksana (last name withheld) from Bang Khae district. The cause of death was put down as drowning, though police also found a .22 calibre gun in the man’s pocket with one bullet inside.

The deceased man’s family reportedly said Laksana had been missing since Tuesday. Police found his motorbike on Krung Thon Bridge and it is believed he may have jumped into the river from there. The bridge is about 6 kilometres from where the body was found.
