Switzerland has sent around CHF9 million ($9.8 million) worth of anti-Covid-19 equipment to Thailand, which is facing its worst wave yet of the pandemic.

The aid includes around 100 respirators and more than one million antigen tests, according to the Swiss foreign ministry. A cargo plane left Zurich airport on Wednesday bound for Bangkok, with 26 tonnes of medical supplies from the stocks of the army pharmacy and the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH).

The shipment by Swiss Humanitarian Aid will be received by the Thai authorities, said the ministry, adding that “the Swiss embassy in Thailand is in close contact with the authorities to ensure that items are distributed fairly based on need, in accordance with humanitarian principles”.

All these Donations of Aid and Vaccines from around the Globe.

Australia, US, EU, Switzerland.

What is Thailand offering / selling in order to get this help.

If there is one thing as certain as dying , its that nothing is for nothing.

Are Thailand offering to supply cheaper Canned Tuna to the world - Nah

This may be a back door Political move to possibly stop Thailand becoming a fully fledged member of the CCP.

Just saying

Thailand is a third world country, and any other view only come from those that expect western standards at Thai prices.

One has to assume the term 'humanitarian aid' is not in your vocabulary.

There are many more Countries in the World that qualify for Humanitarian Aid over and above Thailand.

Thailand is not a poor Country by any stretch of the imagination.

It appears the rest of the world is treating Thailand like a third world country and worst still the Thai Government is accepting all the handouts highlighting that the current regime does not have a clue on how to manage the current pandemic.

It IS a third world country. The government is the government of a third world country. Donations, more donations. Hands out for donations. Major countries are deluding themselves. Idiocy is reigning.

Why is the Swiss minister travelling to a country that has a high incidence of the disease? Ah, a ceremony will take place while he is here. Fully vaccinated and coddled.

I despair of western governments sometimes.

Third World is an obsolete term; it should have been retired in 1989. Thailand is a developing nation with a typically impoverished commodities sector. To the topic, I hope the Swiss know to whose hands the donation will be going to on the ground here.

Interesting question Scott, maybe he knows the truth that the fear installed by the government on the covid helps him stay in power and therefore risks nothing, surely he will also have to meet many investors for a large Swiss bank on the verge of bankruptcy.

They maybe still do have a lot of cash reserves.

However, the cash reserves are not being spent on people in the Country during these terrible times for them.

The government still wants to keep the Cash Reserves for buying more War Toys and other things.

They still have a pot to P!$$ in only the contents are being held back.

Interesting that a Swiss Minister is visiting.

Maybe wants to discuss Banking terms.

The course this government has set is to accept Chinese hegemony. Nothing is going to change that unless another government comes to power with a change in mind. Think that is going to happen?

After 200'000 Francs cash handout by the ambassador in April last year into the gifted hands of Anutin, the big wig in the public health office, the same duo was pictured yesterday at the airport "kindly accepting" a 9 million Francs shipment - with compliments of the Swiss tax payer.

All the while, Swiss residents and stranded tourists remain in the huge cluster of "dirty farang" by the very same Anutin and will come at the very end of the line. It is all those foreign countries, treating Thailand like a 3rd world country which requires urgent help, who keep these crooks in business.

Farang, Jek, Kaek or Dam - all non-Thais are human beings like the superior Thai race and it might cross the mind of one or another Thai, that without all those non-Thais, specially the dirty farang kind, this country is absolute toast!

And the Swiss got their expats jabbed! As with income letters US UK and Australia seem to have been singled out for negative treatment. Japan is the last expat community to get priority jabs!

Stereotypes always work well.

He currently has the function of a foreign "secretary"/minister.

He will visit Thailand, Vietnam and Laos.

With Thailand and Vietnam it is mostly about improving trade (promoting business). Will meet business leaders and business associations.

With Laos its more about development cooperation.

Aside from that Covid related stuff, situation of the expats etc.

Reader should understand the meaning of third world country. The term has changed since WW11.

Thailand is now classed as a developing country not a third world country.
