Region four police and officers from Nakhon Phanom in the north east of Thailand announced the arrest of a Nong Bualamphu man who was caught at a resort in Ban Phaeng district with 600 kilos of heroin in his car.

It was the biggest bust this year and was of the "Double Uoglobe Brand" that the Thais call 'lions stamping on the earth'.

The drugs were in 1,673 packages weighing about 300 grams each. The value of the heroin is 2 billion baht, said the police at a press conference.

Arrested was 46 year old Pongpitak Pradaphon and seized was a Madza 2.

He claimed he was paid just 5,000 baht to take the drugs south and they were bound for another country. (This may have been either a typo or a ruse by the suspect, notes ASEAN NOW).

The destination would be Malaysia. Thai Rath and other media reports are often reluctant to name countries in drugs cases often referring to them as "neighboring countries", notes ASEAN NOW.

The fact that the drugs were crossing over the Mekong river into the north east rather than in the far north marked a shift in the strategy of drug lords in transporting their product, said Thai Rath.

Such an unsophisticated method of transporting such a valuable cargo. I have a hard time understanding.

Yeah...that would be 4 really fat guys ...that suspension would be bottoming out on the expressway

Its got to be some sort of setup---surely .

I really do not believe people who move that sort of poundage, would be so stupid.

6 -100,Klg sealed boxes --sent as freight (Kerry etc) over the period of a week (2 at a time) each contains a mobile phone with tracking App on it.

How difficult is that.

Instead we have a guy booking into a motel just 2-3 hours from where they say it came across the boarder....and the police wandering in there.

Even if he had to drive --he would still have to pass through many Covid-check points, and as there its too much for just the boot it would be  all over the car.

If its all true--then there is definitely a Darwin award for the Brains of this operation.....................................:w00t:

It's desperation rather than stupidity. When you have nothing...5000 baht can feed your kids...or your habit

No I meant the Mr Brains of the op.. tonray....... I know the Mules will do anything-(more for a fix then feeding kids)

But for the owners--2 Billion Bhts worth is a lot to lose, even at the basement bargain  prices they get it for in Lao.

Have all that to move and they rely on a guy in a car who does it for 5000 bht ??
Dying to lose their shipment obviously !

All the tyres running flat on a car 4 inches from the ground was the give-away

You think for one minute he was doing this for 5,000 baht?

Also, he will not have been travelling alone with that amount in product and I think he is either a far bigger fish or knows a lot more than has been put in the news.

There would have been escorts and outriders to ensure it went to its intended destination.

Something not right here.
