DIT says no need to stock up on commodities

BANGKOK (NNT) - During the last few days, it has become obvious that some shelves in convenient stores are now empty due to a rising demand for food and commodities. The Department of Internal Trade meanwhile, has announced that all retail companies still have plenty of products in stock, adding that members of the public have no need to hoard supplies.

BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's cabinet on Tuesday approved an additional 30 billion baht ($909 million) in relief measures for those hit by tougher restrictions to slow the spread of COVID-19 infections, a government spokesman said.

Phuket asks to vaccinate 12- to 18-year-olds

PHUKET: The Phuket Provincial Government and the Tourism Ministry have together filed a request for doses of COVID-19 vaccine to be given to people in Phuket who are 12-18 years old, Tourism and Sports Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn has confirmed.

Temple Isolation established to handle increase in COVID infected Buddhist priests

BANGKOK (NNT) - Priest Hospital under the Department of Medical Services in collaboration with Wat Suthi Wararam Temple, has established a temple isolation facility at the temple in order to handle an increase in COVID-19 infected Buddhist monks as well as secular members in Bangkok.

Restaurants at malls not allowed to sell takeaways directly to customers

BANGKOK (NNT) - Restaurants at shopping malls are allowed to reopen for takeaway and delivery orders, albeit with a new restriction in place barring direct contact between sellers and customers. Health officials have explained the measure is in place to ensure no crowding around the shop.

Concerns that COVID-19 situation may affect export sector

Thailand’s rural doctors help Bangkok authorities with proactive COVID screening

A caravan of 40 teams of rural doctors from across the country have begun their first day of COVID-19 proactive screening in dense communities in Bangkok, using Antigen Test kits, which will continue until next Tuesday. If moderate and severe cases are found, they will receive anti-viral Favipiravir medication, while asymptomatic cases will enter home-isolation. Vaccination will also be conducted to build herd immunity.

Thailand’s ban on the use of sunscreen, containing any of four chemicals deemed to be harmful to coral reefs in the country’s national parks, came into effect today (Wednesday), according to an announcement by the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation published on the Royal Gazette’s website yesterday.

DMS: People with positive antigen test results can receive medications without delay
