I don't find any need to mention what my family and I have done in the previous year and a half to help our local communites. I find it a bit distastefull. A little like giving to charity and advertizing the fact. However you carry on.

Thank you. I intend to. Keeps me grounded. More should try it.

I am actually of two minds on this one.

I don't mention what I do with regards to charity because ... to be quite honest it always feels I could do more than I do...  I have have no issue recognizing others (including family) generosity when I feel they have gone above average.

However if mentioning it publicly (as long as you keep the person you have helped private) encourages at least one other person to also be more generous, then it has had a possible effect on society and I have no issue with issuing a challenge in a way.   I shy away from being too public about anything personal, but then that is who I am.

There is a difference between mentioning it publicly for a charitable reason vs for bragging rights.

Yes i tend to agree.

In fact it was one of the regular posters on here who inspired me to help. He regularly mentions how he goes out with his girlfriend and hands out on the street during his walks near his home.

Never found what he posted about this ‘distasteful’ or looking for ‘bragging rights’ but each to their own.

Perhaps because you asked me why I drove by a food handout and did not help then went on to say how you had been delivering food hand outs today. In future if you want to advertize it  i suggest you do so for charitable reasons rather than try to belittle someone when you have no idea what they do. Understood that yet??

Sensible decision. Pattaya cancels its plans to open to international tourists in Sept. Far better to wait and assess the situation rather than setting themselves unrealistic targets that only cause more disappointments.

Yes, the Pattaya plan to open the city to foreign tourism in September is postponed, no future date given

Similar rate of infections and deaths. Obviously not vaccinations, as I thought I'd made clear by writing that Thailand was nowhere near achieving anything like full vaccination, unlike the UK, and probably never will..

Similar infections and deaths but the country has more or less abolished all covid restrictions. The benefits of high vaccination rates. Imagine what the situation would be without the vaccinations and fully open, plus roll in the high testing rate in the UK. Remember the UK was under restrictions of some sort from more or less November 20 through to July 21, those and vaccination is what subdued the Delta variant I believe. Open up Thailand fully again, test at same rate as UK and I think you wouldn't be too joyous at the results, probably make situation at present look like a walk in the park so to speak.
