Send documents Chiang Mai to Hatyai

Featured Replies

I was told today that Thai Post and Kerry both will not guarantee an envelope containing a few documents to go through from Chiang Mai to Hatyai. They say they have a huge backlog and some services are suspended because of Covid. How can I get my documents sent to Hatyai asap and with relative high confidence that they will arrive in a few days?

DHL

Thailand Post and courier companies say that in the current circumstances to cover themselves in the case of unavoidable delays.  It is no reason to assume that your documents will not be delivered as usual, give or take a day or so.   I've had normal post delivered here in the last week or so from the US and the UK that was not delayed at all and that obviously involved Thailand Post.

As said DHL. Using them to send all over Thailand on an almost daily basis. No problems whatsoever. In some districts and provinces they co-op with Kerry. Nor problem with that either.

At the moment Thailand Post has many backlogs. We've been waiting two weeks now for EMS packages to get from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. There was a Covid-19 outbreak at the main sorting center in Lamphun and they shut it down temporarily for disinfection/have limited staff. They are apparently re-routing the trucks to Mae Rim where the post sits for days on end before it can be routed. Calling the post office is useless as they are inundated with phone calls and can't offer any advice other than to wait.

Kerry has similar issues. We sent 2 packages last Monday; 1 to Bangkok and 1 to Hat Yai. The one to Bangkok got there Friday while the one to Hat Yai has not had any tracking updates since last Monday.

DHL should be better I would think.
