Yep

This is what I think most Westerners don't understand. It's not like many western countries where different parties have fundamentally different approaches to managing the country.

In Thailand, the culture encourages virtually everyone to be mostly alike. Collectivist society.

There are hardly any groups that would run the country very differently or do much better. They are mostly all slaves to their culture. The next guys will have 99% of the same opinions and ways of working. The biggest difference will be who gets to cream off the top

Pretty odd post when the western countries have stagnated economies while the dynamism and growth are in Asia. Asia is not only the fastest growing economic region, as well as the largest continental economy by both GDP nominal and PPP in the world. Obviously it is down the individual western leaders managing their countries and not doing a good job. Perhaps it is down to Asian collective cultures that brought them prosperity.

I have 100% confidence that they are all 100% incompetent...

Uh-huh.

Tradition. For decades.

Such broad critiques not only apply to the usual coup installed military political presence, but also the random "democratically-elected" civilian types [Thaksin, Abhisit, and several others of contemporary times]. As it's clear that they all belong to the same club.

He will always be a reacting *Writhing Snake*, coming up with all kind of actions to make the challengers illegal.

For sure the well-being of the country is the last thing on his mind.

He should learn from the Malaysian PM.

Yes, and most of the weight loss at the gym is by the guy who is still fat and will be fat for a long time.

As a Sporean, I know you are smarter than your post.

1. Don't put Thailand in a basket with all other Asian countries. Some are great, most others are not. Thailand is not Singapore, for example.

2. Countries with lots of room to grow can grow a lot for long periods of time. But, wake me up when Thailand has has evaded the middle income trap, has a viable middle class and doesn't rely on millions of sex workers to support its rural economies.

At this rate the powers that be will need to replace Prayut with another Army General that's completely unqualified and unable to run a country.

Democracy. Thai sty.

But they know how to salute and shine shoes -  what more so they need?

At least Thaksin was elected.

He was like Trump.

You either hated him or loved him.

But in the end he was elected.  Like it or not.

This junta is just a crime syndicate.

Crime syndicates disguised as politicos is what it's been about here for decades upon decades.

Elected or not. It means nothing. Bit of a facade.

Still required to answer to The Godfather.

Still surprised as to the great number of folks that haven't a clue as to how Thai political machines operate - forever.

And surely the West would never have gone so far and achieved so much without Asia to stand on...

Oh, wait...  Actually, the way forward for mankind is strong, competitive, open and free collaboration for the betterment of all.  There is only one fly in that ointment, can you spot it?

Leave us not forget that some of these emerging Asian economies owe much of their economic growth to those Western countries who allowed their corporate sectors to move their manufacturing bases and labor forces to said Asian countries.

yes it couldnt  possibly  be the  use of cheap  labour by foreign countries manufacturing here to  supply goodg to their own countries  citizens who always seek the cheapest price over quality which  will  slowly make the Thais demand  higher  salaries  making them less  competitiive and moving the factories to other cheap  lobour countries.

Abhisit was never democratically elected.

He became Prime Minister after a judicial coup which removed then PM Samak (for appearing on a cooking show no less) and after the Chidchob clan stabbed Thaksin in the back and went over to side with the Dems.
