Popular Post webfact
Another no confidence motion against Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and five other cabinet members was filed by the Opposition today (Monday), with a censure debate expected later this month or early next. The motion is the third since the second Prayut administration came to power in July 2019. The prime minister and the other ministers targeted survived both previous motions. With the failure to contain the currently raging COVID-19 pandemic, the slow vaccine rollout, the economic impacts of the COVID related restrictions and alleged corruption in the management of the pandemic being the focus, the five other ministers being targeted are Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob, Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives Minister Chalermchai Sri-on, Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin, and Digital Economy and Society Chaiwut Thanakamanusorn. Popular Post JonnyF
At this rate the powers that be will need to replace Prayut with another Army General that's completely unqualified and unable to run a country. Popular Post MrJ2U
The courts are controled by this "government". I don't expect any other verdict but "not guilty". They need to change the whole government including the judges. 1

Yep This is what I think most Westerners don't understand. It's not like many western countries where different parties have fundamentally different approaches to managing the country. In Thailand, the culture encourages virtually everyone to be mostly alike. Collectivist society. There are hardly any groups that would run the country very differently or do much better. They are mostly all slaves to their culture. The next guys will have 99% of the same opinions and ways of working. The biggest difference will be who gets to cream off the top Edited August 16, 2021 by DaveSamutP 4

Asia is not only the fastest growing economic region, as well as the largest continental economy by both GDP nominal and PPP in the world. Obviously it is down the individual western leaders managing their countries and not doing a good job. Perhaps it is down to Asian collective cultures that brought them prosperity. 2

Such broad critiques not only apply to the usual coup installed military political presence, but also the random "democratically-elected" civilian types [Thaksin, Abhisit, and several others of contemporary times]. Growth in Asia, as most everywhere in the world, happens not due to governments’ efforts but despite governments’ efforts. Remove government from the equation and growth will accelerate. Asian countries have higher rates of growth because they started from a very low base. 1

Yes, and most of the weight loss at the gym is by the guy who is still fat and will be fat for a long time. As a Sporean, I know you are smarter than your post. 1. Don't put Thailand in a basket with all other Asian countries. Some are great, most others are not. Thailand is not Singapore, for example. 2. Countries with lots of room to grow can grow a lot for long periods of time. But, wake me up when Thailand has has evaded the middle income trap, has a viable middle class and doesn't rely on millions of sex workers to support its rural economies.

He became Prime Minister after a judicial coup which removed then PM Samak (for appearing on a cooking show no less) and after the Chidchob clan stabbed Thaksin in the back and went over to side with the Dems.
