Hua Hin welcomed Olympic gold medal star Panipak Wongpattanakit on Saturday (Aug 22) as the Taekwondo star paid tribute to her first coach, who is based in the town.

The 23-year-old Surat Thani native, nicknamed “Nong Tennis”, became an Olympic champion in dramatic fashion last month courtesy of a last-gasp kick in the women’s 49kg Taekwondo final against Spanish teenager Adriana Cerezo Iglesias.

At a ceremony held at Hua Hin Market Village Shopping Center, Nong Tennis, accompanied by her father met with mayor Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul and her first taekwondo coach, Coach Songsak.
