Thailand on Saturday (September 11) reported 15,191 new COVID-19 cases, 18,721 recoveries and 253 additional deaths over the past 24 hours.

● 18,721 recoveries

 14,465 new infections

 726 prison / prison infections

Saturday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 1,368,144 with 14,173 deaths.

(Total infections since April 1: 1,339,281)

The news comes as the Ministry of Public Health has addressed concerns brought up by the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administratio’s (CCSA) Adviser Dr. Udom Kachinthorn, who believes that there may be 6-7 million asymptomatic COVID-19 infected individuals yet to be discovered within the population.

Director of the Department of Disease Control’s Office of Emergency Disease and Health Threats, Dr. Chawetsan Namwat acknowledged today that according to epidemiological estimations, Dr. Udom’s observation is possible but not a cause for concern. He elaborated that symptomatic sufferers of the virus are easier to detect but asymptomatic infections can still be contained if everyone practices preventative measures.

The Ministry of Public Health is nevertheless screening for such cases and working to make Antigen Test Kits readily available to people entering restaurants and other public spaces.

Utter Orwellian nonsense.

Make me doubt the numbers meaning - oh wait I already think they are a load of stinky fish.

Again take care Dr Udom the truth is dangerous in a dictatorship. Brave man. Watch out for the men in black.

Prison cases keep going up despite their promises weeks ago that they had adequate measures in place

something just doesn't sit right with me about these so called cases found in prisons, does anyone really think this government is going out of its way to spend a valuable resource like PCR Testing on prison inmates - I find that highly unlikely which brings into question .........................why

If they are going to test inmates why not use cheap RAT tests

Rapid tests positive cases, 2,534 bringing the unofficial total to 17,725

even these rapid test numbers are now unreliable - are people not given test kits to test themselves at home or whatever

serious question

why is Phuket not a Deep Red Zone ?

Pattaya is Deep Red and has less than half the daily cases and going down

Pattaya is part of Chon Buri province which still has around 1000 cases a day. You can't lower the zone of just Pattaya (Banglamung).

Yes they officially include it in Chon Buri numbers but I don't, it is a separate City with its own population, Pattaya and Phuket are quite comparable in population and size

It is already separated when it comes to reopening 1st Oct

Prison cases are only used to lower the numbers of the general public.. It looks better if the infections are going down or not to quick up... So if the cases are not so much a few prisons cases if it looks worse more prisons cases. However this morning on the news channel there was a topic that there was something stolen in jail and if you see how many prisoners are in a cell it is no wonder that there are a lot of cases too... surely not 2 m distance but man to man there.. The responsible Government

Thai prisons are interesting especially were delta is concerned, I would have thought that delta spread very rapidly through prison population over a matter of a couple of weeks, that would mean that everyone in prison has already been infected with covid weeks ago, only those added to the prison population recently would account for new cases if they hadn't already been infected or been vaccinated with an effective vaccine.

So prison cases are one of the following IMO

- New inmates added to the prison population that had not been vaccinated or previously infected

- the above plus massive reinfections

- very few of the above and it is total B S

- a mixture of all the above

Either way I think it is safe to assume that everyone in prison has been infected at least once

It would be an interesting study

That and then when they were also bubble and sealed with little food and other things. Horrible conditions, treated as slaves in my view.

If you believe all the covid gossip here, depression is looming over you.

Not depressed at all just responding to a report that the Director of the Govt's Covid Disease office doesn't think up to 7 million undetected and asymptomatic cases loose in the public is a problem or cause for concern.
